A Belize trip asks different things of your phone: find your pickup after landing, open a water-taxi booking before leaving for the cayes, and load directions inland. The biggest allowance does not solve everything. Your plan needs to last until your final day and cover every country you visit.
To choose the best eSIM for Belize, I compared five options by data, duration, price in US dollars, published network and package conditions. There is also a local alternative worth considering before buying a larger allowance.
Start with your route. A week in San Pedro differs from Belize followed by Guatemala or Mexico. And reception at your accommodation does not establish coverage throughout a boat trip or at a remote lodge.
The short answer
MobiMatter is my starting point for a fixed-data Belize trip: its Airalo Discover Global 10GB plan costs US$35.99 for 30 days and also includes Mexico and Guatemala. Ubigi is a useful Digi-network alternative, Airalo direct stands out for longer validity, and Holafly suits travellers who prefer unlimited phone data with a daily hotspot limit. Nomad eSIM offers a straightforward Belize-only package on Digi, though its larger allowances cost more.
For heavier use on a Belize-only stay, also compare Digi’s local US$20 tourist offer below. Its store or agent purchase process is a different trade-off from arranging a travel eSIM before departure.
Why I look beyond the cheapest package. I am André, a Brazilian living in Dessel, Belgium. I have used Nomad eSIM in Portugal and Belgium, and Holafly in Thailand. Those experiences inform how I assess installation, data-line settings and activation rules.
I have not field-tested these services in Belize. These recommendations use official plan pages and published conditions. A listed local network is useful evidence, but it is not a speed test.
The best eSIMs for Belize at a glance
These examples show what each option is good for. The table deliberately keeps validity visible: 10GB for 180 days and 10GB for 30 days serve different travellers. Prices alone cannot establish which connection will be stronger at your accommodation.
| Provider and selected product | Example before coupons | Best reason to compare it | Reader code |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. MobiMatter, Airalo Discover Global | 10GB / 30 days / US$35.99 | Fixed-data value and Belize, Mexico, Guatemala on one package | No confirmed personal code |
| 2. Ubigi AMERICAS | 10GB / 30 days / US$48 | Digi network in Belize and a reusable regional eSIM | ANDREONDIGITAL: 10% on eligible purchases |
| 3. Airalo Discover | 10GB / 180 days / US$57 | Keeping one allowance for a longer itinerary or repeat trips | ANDRE15: 15% on eligible purchases |
| 4. Holafly Belize | Unlimited / 7 days / US$59.90 | Phone-data convenience; hotspot limited to 1GB per day | ANDREONDIGITAL: 5% on eligible purchases |
| 5. Nomad eSIM Belize | 3GB / 30 days / US$29; 10GB / 30 days / US$95 | A Belize-only Digi package managed in the app | ANDRE15: 15% on eligible purchases |
The reader codes above are our documented provider codes, not a test purchase. Check eligibility before paying. MobiMatter is a separate store: the Airalo code is not presented as a MobiMatter discount.
Which network does each selected package use?
| Selected product | Published Belize network / technology | Hotspot | When validity starts |
|---|---|---|---|
| MobiMatter Airalo Discover Global 10GB | Belize Telemedia and SMART, 4G | Supported; uses the allowance | First data use; use within two months of purchase |
| Ubigi AMERICAS | Digi, 3G/4G | Supported; uses the allowance | First covered-destination use; start within six months |
| Airalo Discover direct | Belize included; confirm the network for your selected Discover package | Subject to device, network and APN compatibility | First use in coverage; follow the order activation window |
| Holafly Belize | DigiCell, as named on the country page | 1GB per day in total | Connection to a supported destination network |
| Nomad eSIM Belize | Digi, 4G | Supported; uses the allowance | First data use, or automatically after 60 days |
A network list is not a coverage test. It identifies the published partner, not guaranteed service on every caye, road or boat. In particular, the local Airalo Cho! profile lists SMART, but that does not establish the network used by every Discover Global package.

Choose for the part of Belize you will actually visit
The Belize Tourism Board describes hundreds of offshore cayes, forested inland areas and borders with Mexico and Guatemala. Choose around the places where you need your phone.
| Your itinerary | What to check before buying | What to save offline |
|---|---|---|
| A short Belize City visit or port day | A small allowance whose validity covers the full visit; land coverage does not include the ship at sea | Pickup details and the return meeting point |
| San Pedro or Caye Caulker | The plan’s named network, where published, and your accommodation’s experience at its exact location | Water-taxi tickets, hotel address and booking contacts |
| San Ignacio and an inland lodge | Signal at the lodge and on your planned excursions, rather than a countrywide marketing claim | Driving directions, tour meeting details and reservations |
| A reef excursion or remote caye | What communication the operator provides; do not depend on a normal land eSIM offshore | Departure time, return arrangements and essential contact details |
| Belize plus Mexico or Guatemala | All destinations on the exact package’s country list and enough validity for the whole route | Onward transport details and the next accommodation |

Digi, Smart and the limits of a network name
Digi and Smart both offer local eSIM services. Your travel provider may use a local roaming partner, and that partner should be checked on the specific product you are buying. If the provider does not publish the name, I leave that information unconfirmed.
A simple claim that Belize only has service in its cities is not a useful guide either. Digi’s corporate history describes mobile expansion focused on cayes and rural locations. That still does not prove reception at every resort, reserve or road. Ask about your exact stop before making a connection essential to your plans.
A Belize eSIM is not a reef or cruise connectivity package
The barrier reef and offshore atolls are part of Belize’s appeal, but a destination’s name on an eSIM does not promise mobile service throughout its waters. Do not budget on uploading a video during a Blue Hole trip or staying connected for an entire water-taxi crossing.
For a cruise, separate your day ashore from your time aboard. Confirm the ship and package with a maritime provider or use the ship’s internet if that suits your needs. Our guide to how eSIMs work on cruise ships explains the distinction.
Do not assume a regional plan includes Belize
If your next stop is Mexico or Guatemala, open the regional plan’s country list and find each country by name. A provider selling separate Belize and Mexico packages does not establish that its regional package includes both. Compare the total cost of the relevant national plans with the regional option, then count validity from the first destination where service starts.

1. MobiMatter: our first choice for fixed-data value
For a trip that needs more than emergency messages, MobiMatter is where I would start comparing. Its Airalo Discover Global package offers 10 GB for 30 days at US$35.99. That is the strongest fixed-data value in our five-option shortlist at this allowance and trip length. This is a price-and-conditions recommendation, not a claim that we measured better reception in Belize.
| Data | Validity | Price before discounts |
|---|---|---|
| 1 GB | 7 days | US$6.99 |
| 3 GB | 30 days | US$14.99 |
| 5 GB | 30 days | US$21.99 |
| 10 GB | 30 days | US$35.99 |
The appeal goes beyond Belize. The specific 10 GB product includes Belize, Mexico and Guatemala, making it worth considering for an overland route. MobiMatter lists Belize Telemedia and SMART at 4G in Belize. Those listings identify permitted network partners, not guaranteed coverage at every lodge, caye or border crossing.
Hotspot and top-ups are supported. The plan is data only, with no phone number. It starts on first data use and expires unused two months after purchase. On a global package, using it before Belize can start the clock. Android users must follow the manual APN instructions supplied with the order.
Check which store you are buying from. MobiMatter sells an Airalo-supplied product, but the retail terms differ. Airalo’s direct Discover offer gives 10 GB for 180 days at US$57, rather than 30 days. Its longer validity may matter more than the lower upfront price. Our Airalo coupon must not be assumed to work at MobiMatter, and we have no confirmed personal MobiMatter code to apply.
Compare the exact package at checkout.
2. Ubigi: a Digi-network option for a wider route
Ubigi is more interesting here when you open its regional and global products. The AMERICAS 10GB plan costs US$48 for 30 days and explicitly includes Belize, Guatemala and Mexico. In Belize, its network table names Digi with 3G/4G. It does not list Belize 5G.
This is a practical choice for an overland trip if the Digi partnership, app management and reusable eSIM suit you. It costs more than the MobiMatter 10GB/30-day example, so I would choose it for those product features rather than call it the lowest-price plan.
| Ubigi product | Data | Validity | USD before coupon |
|---|---|---|---|
| AMERICAS | 3GB | 15 days | US$24 |
| AMERICAS | 10GB | 30 days | US$48 |
| WORLD | 3GB | 30 days | US$26 |
| WORLD | 10GB | 30 days | US$59 |
| BELIZE | 1GB | 7 days | US$15 |
The WORLD 3GB option is worth opening if you want a smaller allowance for a full month. Do not automatically buy the country-labelled plan: at the same provider, a regional or global product can fit the trip better. The allowance is shared across covered destinations, not renewed each time you cross a border.
Hotspot is allowed and consumes the package. Ubigi also advertises app top-ups without needing Wi-Fi or remaining mobile data on its service. Keep the profile installed for future trips and check the next package’s country list.
Watch the first covered stop. Smartstart begins when you start using the plan in coverage. An included US transit stop can start an AMERICAS package before Belize. You have six months from purchase to begin using these one-off plans; an unused package expires after that window.
These offers provide data, not a Belize phone number.
Select a package that explicitly includes Belize and check the eligible ANDREONDIGITAL discount.
3. Airalo: longer validity for repeat trips
For a two-week holiday, the cheapest qualifying allowance usually gets the attention. For several trips over six months, the expiry date can matter more. That is why I would look first at Airalo Discover direct: 10GB lasts 180 days for US$57, while 20GB lasts 365 days for US$66. The fixed-data Discover country list expressly includes Belize, Guatemala and Mexico.
| Airalo Discover fixed data | Validity | USD before coupon |
|---|---|---|
| 1GB | 7 days | US$8.50 |
| 2GB | 15 days | US$16.50 |
| 3GB | 30 days | US$24 |
| 5GB | 60 days | US$35 |
| 10GB | 180 days | US$57 |
| 20GB | 365 days | US$66 |
Long validity does not refill your allowance. If you use the 10GB in the first week, 180-day validity does not provide another 10GB. It is useful when you spread a limited allowance across several destinations or return trips.
MobiMatter’s Airalo-supplied Discover Global offer has its own retail price and conditions. Its 10GB package lasts 30 days, so compare the store, validity and support process before buying. Our Airalo coupon applies to eligible purchases at Airalo, not automatically at MobiMatter.
Discover supports top-ups. For hotspot, Airalo asks you to check device and network support and use the right APN settings. The allowance starts on first use in coverage, which can happen in a covered country before you reach Belize.
Network transparency is the remaining check. I confirmed Belize in the direct Discover country list, but could not independently confirm its exact Belize partner for the selected package. Check Countries and Networks in your purchase flow. The SMART listing for the local Cho! product should be checked separately from Global coverage.
What about Airalo’s local and unlimited options?
The local Cho! Belize profile lists SMART at LTE/4G. Its current examples are 1GB for three days at US$9 and 5GB for 30 days at US$48. That can be useful if you specifically prefer the local profile, but Discover offers more flexible validity and country coverage.
Discover also has an unlimited option, including seven days for US$45. Its published fair-use rule provides 3GB per day before speeds drop to 1Mbps. It therefore serves a different purpose from buying a fixed allowance to keep for six months. Check the current selected package’s full conditions if considering it.
The fixed-data products above have no regular calling or SMS allowance. Airalo separately offers Discover+ with a US-based number and specified calls and texts. That is not a local Belize number, and number availability alone does not establish that a bank will accept it for verification.
Choose Discover, confirm Belize in the selected package and check the eligible ANDRE15 discount.
4. Holafly: unlimited phone data, with a separate hotspot limit

Holafly makes sense when you prefer choosing your travel dates to estimating gigabytes. Its Belize plan lists unlimited phone data on DigiCell. Current examples are US$36.50 for five days, US$59.90 for seven days and US$68.90 for ten days, before our reader coupon.
| Holafly Belize duration | Phone data | Hotspot total | USD before coupon |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 days | Unlimited, subject to fair usage | 1GB per day | US$36.50 |
| 7 days | Unlimited, subject to fair usage | 1GB per day | US$59.90 |
| 10 days | Unlimited, subject to fair usage | 1GB per day | US$68.90 |
The important distinction is tethering: you can share 1 GB per day across connected devices. That is a daily total, not 1 GB for each phone or laptop. It can cover occasional booking tasks, but it is not an unlimited work connection for two people.
Fair usage can also temporarily reduce phone-data speeds. The country page says normal speed returns the following day, but does not publish a numerical high-speed threshold. I would not treat “unlimited” as a promise of unrestricted full-speed streaming throughout the day.
Install with reliable Wi-Fi before leaving and follow the arrival activation instructions. Validity begins when the eSIM connects to a supported destination network, with each day counted as 24 hours. The package provides data rather than a Belize number or regular calls and SMS.
I have used Holafly in Thailand, not tested it in Belize. Here, my recommendation rests on its published conditions. Holafly itself warns that rainforests, sparsely populated cayes and sea journeys can have limited or absent service. Buy it for convenient phone use where mobile coverage exists, not as an offshore connection.
Enter ANDREONDIGITAL and confirm the eligible discount before paying.
5. Nomad eSIM: a straightforward Belize-only Digi package
Nomad eSIM offers a clearly labelled Belize-only range on Digi 4G. I have used Nomad eSIM in Portugal and Belgium, which gives me personal context for the service. I have not used its Belize package, so the local recommendation here comes from its published plan information.
Its strongest reason to stay on this shortlist is familiarity and a simple national package. If you already manage other trips in its app and need a modest amount of data for Belize, it is a sensible option to compare. At larger allowances, the current price gap is substantial.
| Nomad eSIM Belize data | Validity | USD before coupon |
|---|---|---|
| 1GB | 7 days | US$10 |
| 3GB | 30 days | US$29 |
| 5GB | 30 days | US$48 |
| 10GB | 30 days | US$95 |
For example, 10GB costs US$95 here, compared with US$48 for Ubigi AMERICAS and US$35.99 for the MobiMatter package, both valid for 30 days. The reader coupon may reduce eligible purchases, but I would still compare the final totals rather than assume a discount makes the largest Nomad eSIM plan the best buy.
The selected Belize plans are data only and allow hotspot sharing from the allowance. They begin on first data use, or automatically 60 days after purchase if you have not started earlier. Buying far ahead of the trip therefore needs care.
Top up before running out. The linked Neon plan instructions say add-ons must be purchased while the plan is active, before expiry or complete data depletion. That detail matters more than the generic promise that top-ups exist. The profile is also intended for one installation, so do not delete it as an early troubleshooting step.
I found four fixed-data Belize offers in the current catalogue. Generic wording about unlimited or daily plans elsewhere on the website is not evidence that those products are available for Belize. This national package also does not establish coverage in Mexico or Guatemala.
The link opens the provider store. Select Belize and confirm that ANDRE15 applies to your chosen plan.
How much data should you buy for Belize?
Messaging and occasional navigation need a different budget from laptop work, video calls or photo backups. Hotel Wi-Fi can reduce your mobile use, but only count on it if you are comfortable depending on it.
These are daily spending budgets calculated from the allowance, not measured app-usage predictions: 1GB spread over seven days is about 140MB a day; 3GB over seven days is about 430MB; and 5GB over fourteen days is about 360MB. If those limits sound restrictive for your habits, compare a larger plan before purchasing.
Download maps over Wi-Fi, pause automatic photo backups and check which apps can use mobile data. A hotspot draws from the same allowance unless the plan says otherwise. If a package advertises unlimited data, read its fair-use and hotspot conditions before treating it as a replacement for a laptop connection.

Set up the right line before you need it
- Check your current mobile plan. Ask whether Belize is included, with what data allowance, and whether calls, texts or daily charges apply. An included home-carrier benefit may make another purchase unnecessary.
- Check the exact phone model. It must support eSIM and be unlocked. Regional versions can differ. Use our eSIM phone guide, then confirm with the manufacturer.
- Read the activation rule before installing. Installation and the start of validity are not always the same event. Follow the purchased plan’s instructions and any activation deadline.
- Install with a stable internet connection. Save the installation instructions somewhere you can access if the new connection does not start immediately.
- Select the travel eSIM for mobile data. Enable roaming on that line if its instructions require it. Keep roaming off on your home line unless you deliberately intend to use its roaming service, and check automatic data switching.
- Test before leaving your arrival connection. Turn Wi-Fi off briefly, then load a simple webpage, check the selected data line and confirm that the plan is active. If it fails, use the provider’s troubleshooting instructions before deleting the eSIM.
How I chose these five options
I checked the official country, regional and global product pages on 12 October 2026. I compared the actual allowance, validity, displayed USD price, Belize inclusion, named network where available, hotspot terms and activation rules. A provider’s general global coverage claim was not enough to qualify an individual package.
The order is an editorial recommendation for common travel needs, not a laboratory speed ranking. MobiMatter leads this shortlist on the fixed-data price examples; Ubigi adds a clearly published Digi option; Airalo earns its place for long validity; Holafly offers day-based unlimited phone data; and Nomad eSIM provides a familiar app and national Digi package.
Personal experience and documentary research are kept separate. I have not measured speeds, support response times or signal quality in Belize. Prices in the comparison remain the published pre-coupon amounts.
Belize eSIM questions, answered
What is the best eSIM for Belize?
MobiMatter’s Airalo Discover Global 10GB plan at US$35.99 for 30 days is our starting point for fixed-data value. It explicitly includes Belize, Mexico and Guatemala. Ubigi offers a published Digi-network alternative, while Airalo direct has longer-validity Discover plans and Holafly offers unlimited phone data with a hotspot limit. The best fit depends on your route and how you use data. Updated October 2026.
Can I get unlimited eSIM data in Belize?
Holafly sells unlimited phone data for Belize, but hotspot sharing has a total limit of 1GB per day and fair usage can temporarily reduce phone-data speeds. Airalo Discover also includes Belize in its unlimited range, with 3GB per day before speeds drop to 1Mbps. Check the exact package and do not equate unlimited data with unrestricted full-speed use. Updated October 2026.
Can I buy an eSIM for Belize before travelling?
Yes. Online travel eSIM providers sell packages you can arrange before departure. Check your phone’s compatibility and the plan’s activation rule before installing. Digi’s local tourist eSIM follows a different purchase process: its official page directs buyers to a store or listed agent. Updated October 2026.
Which mobile networks can an eSIM use in Belize?
Digi and Smart are local mobile providers, but the network available to you depends on the particular travel eSIM. Check the product’s published partner and technology. When the provider does not name a partner, do not assume it uses either network or both. Updated October 2026.
Will a Belize eSIM work in San Pedro and Caye Caulker?
Choose a Belize-covered package and check the local network named on its product page. Neither a country listing nor reception elsewhere on the island guarantees service at a particular accommodation. Ask your host about that location and save your tickets and booking details before travelling. Updated October 2026.
Will it work at the Blue Hole or throughout a boat trip?
Do not rely on a normal Belize mobile package for an offshore excursion or an entire crossing. It is a terrestrial mobile service, not a satellite connection. Check what communication the boat operator provides and keep essential travel details available offline. Updated October 2026.
Does a Belize eSIM work on a cruise ship?
A Belize land plan may be useful during a covered stop ashore, but that does not include the ship’s network at sea. Maritime service depends on the specific package and supported ship. Check those details separately before buying for a cruise. Updated October 2026.
Does a Central America eSIM automatically include Belize?
No. Open the exact package’s country list and look for Belize. If you also visit Mexico or Guatemala, check those names separately and compare the regional price with individual country plans. The provider’s overall destination count does not establish what one package includes. Updated October 2026.
How much is a local tourist eSIM in Belize?
Digi publishes a tourist SIM or eSIM at US$20, or BZ$40, with 25GB LTE and ten days of service, plus local and international calling and texting allowances. The SIM remains usable for up to 21 days, which is different from the included service period. Check its current store or agent process. Updated October 2026.
Do I need identification to buy a local SIM?
Digi’s mobile terms require identifying details, including your name and address, when buying a SIM. Confirm the documents needed for a tourist purchase with Digi before visiting. That local registration rule should not be assumed to describe every international travel eSIM’s checkout process. Updated October 2026.
Is 1GB enough for a week in Belize?
It gives you roughly 140MB a day if you spread it evenly across seven days. That is a spending budget, not a guarantee for a particular set of apps. Frequent video, photo uploads and hotspot use can make it restrictive. Use your phone’s recent data history to choose a more realistic allowance. Updated October 2026.
Can I share my eSIM data with a laptop?
Check the selected plan’s hotspot policy. Where sharing is allowed, laptop traffic normally consumes the allowance, and an unlimited phone-data plan may have a separate hotspot limit. Pause large updates and cloud backups if you are using a small package. Updated October 2026.
Can I keep my WhatsApp number?
You can generally continue using WhatsApp with your existing registered number while the travel eSIM supplies internet. That is different from making cellular calls or receiving SMS on your home line. Those services depend on your home carrier, roaming settings and plan. Updated October 2026.
Should data roaming be on or off?
Follow the travel eSIM’s instructions: many require roaming on its own line. Keep your home line’s roaming off unless you intend to use its roaming benefits, select the travel line for mobile data and check automatic data switching. Avoid changing both lines together without checking which one you are editing. Updated October 2026.

Final verdict: choose the allowance, expiry and route together
For most fixed-data comparisons, I would begin with MobiMatter. Its 5GB/30-day package at US$21.99 and 10GB/30-day option at US$35.99 offer a useful balance of upfront price and validity. The selected Discover Global product also includes Mexico and Guatemala. Check that exact product, note the two-month window to start using it, and remember which store handles your purchase.
I would compare Ubigi next if I wanted a published Digi-network option for an overland route. AMERICAS 10GB/30 days at US$48 is a more useful starting point than automatically choosing its Belize-labelled 1GB plan. If 3GB is enough and you need a full month, the US$26 WORLD product deserves a look. Make sure a covered transit stop does not start the package earlier than you intended.
Airalo direct becomes more compelling when you need time as much as data. Its 10GB/180-day and 20GB/365-day Discover products can suit repeat trips or a longer international itinerary. I would confirm the selected package’s Belize network before paying, and I would not describe its six-month plan as identical to the 30-day MobiMatter offer.
Holafly is the convenience choice for someone who dislikes monitoring a phone-data allowance. Choose the travel duration, then account for the 1GB daily hotspot total and possible fair-use speed reductions. A couple sharing one connection or a traveller doing laptop work should read those conditions before paying for unlimited phone data.
Nomad eSIM remains reasonable if you value a familiar service and only need Belize. Its 1GB and 3GB plans can fit a modest trip. For 5GB or 10GB, I would compare the actual coupon-adjusted checkout cost against the alternatives because the published larger-plan prices are higher. Keep enough data and time on the active plan if you may need a top-up.
There is one final value check for a Belize-only stay: Digi’s local US$20 tourist package includes 25GB for ten days and calling and texting allowances. If visiting a store or listed agent fits your arrival plans, compare it before spending considerably more on online convenience.
Whatever you choose, prepare for the moments when connectivity matters. Save the hotel address before arrival, tickets before a water-taxi transfer, and onward bookings before crossing a border. A larger allowance cannot create a signal offshore or guarantee reception at a remote lodge.
The links below open provider stores. Select the exact package discussed above. Only apply the coupon belonging to the store where you are buying.
