Best eSIM for Monaco 2026: 4 Providers and the Coverage Check

Monaco travel eSIM comparison with Airalo 1 GB/3 days €4, Holafly 500 MB daily hotspot, Nomad 4G and Saily network disclosure.
Last checked: 2 November 2026

Prices are in euros, before reader discounts. I checked the four official Monaco stores, their plan details and the relevant regional country lists. Prices, availability and terms can change. Choose the exact product and confirm the total before paying.

Monaco harbour and four official provider logos with a reminder to check Monaco in the chosen country list.
Four providers, four sets of conditions. Monaco coverage, the journey through France and network access need separate checks. Checked 2 November 2026.

A day in Monaco can involve two mobile coverage areas before lunch. You may land in Nice, check your route in France and then open the same map in Monte Carlo. A plan that worked at the airport does not necessarily include the Principality.

My first check is therefore the country list, followed by the allowance and validity. Among the four providers compared here, Airalo offers the lowest regular prices for the comparable fixed-data sizes I checked. Holafly has a useful one-day option. Nomad and Saily still have reasons to consider them, but those reasons need to survive a look at the actual package, not just the brand name.

Quick answer: which Monaco eSIM would I choose?

  • Most fixed-data trips: Airalo. 3 GB for 3 days costs €6.50; 10 GB for 30 days costs €18; 50 GB for 30 days costs €32.50. The local product lists Monaco Telecom 5G.
  • One day, without a fixed data balance: Holafly. Its one-day unlimited product costs €3.79. Phone data is subject to operator fair-use controls and hotspot is limited to 500 MB per day.
  • A small allowance lasting a week: Nomad. Its 1 GB/7 day option costs €6.27. This specific Monaco product is 4G, with eligible add-ons and hotspot support.
  • Security tools and optional phone services: Saily. The 1 GB/7 day plan costs €7.49. Its security features are not a bundled NordVPN subscription; a US phone number and call/SMS allowance are separate products.
  • Before paying: verify Monaco and France separately. The Europe products in the coverage table below do not list Monaco; selected global products do.

Why trust this guide: I’m Brazilian and live in Belgium. I have personally used Holafly in Portugal, Turkey and Thailand, and Nomad and Airalo in Portugal. I have not tested an eSIM inside Monaco. This comparison uses official package information, not a claimed Monaco speed test. My experience helps me explain the setup and buying decisions, while the source links let you check the current terms yourself.

My longer reviews: Airalo, Holafly, Nomad eSIM and Saily.

First, check whether your exact plan includes Monaco

Monaco is outside the EU and EEA. The EU’s roaming rules do not automatically give you a domestic-rate allowance there. Your home operator can choose to include it, so check that existing plan before buying anything else. The official EU roaming guide explains the geographical scope of the rules. Do not assume an open border or payment in euros means the same mobile tariff.

For travel eSIMs, the published list attached to the package is the useful evidence. Here is what the checked products list as of 2 November 2026:

Checked 2 November 2026: the named Europe products do not list Monaco; Airalo Discover fixed-data and Saily Global do. Check the list attached to your exact package.

The distinction works both ways. Airalo’s Monaco country product explicitly excludes France. Its France country product and Nomad’s France catalog list France, not Monaco. The Holafly France page does not establish Monaco inclusion either. If your itinerary includes Nice, Monaco and Italy, check all three names rather than assuming one country plan covers the coast.

Airalo Discover fixed-data starts at €8 for 1 GB/7 days and lists Monaco, France and Italy. Saily’s Global list also contains all three. Compare the final global package with buying separate country allowances; broader coverage can be worth more than a slightly lower cost per GB. For the France part, see my France guide and the Europe comparison.

The 30-second check before you travel

  • Open the exact product you intend to buy, including its selected regional variant.
  • Find Monaco in the full country list. Check France and any onward destination too.
  • Read the supported network, start deadline, validity and daily-speed rules. Save those details with your order.

Monaco networks: the same operator name does not mean the same access

The package-level information is more useful than a countrywide 5G headline. Airalo and Holafly name Monaco Telecom and advertise 5G where available. Nomad’s current Monaco plans name the same operator but specify 4G. Saily does not name a local operator on the Monaco page I checked. That is enough to rule out the idea that all four necessarily deliver identical service.

Published network and hotspot conditions, 2 November 2026

ProviderPublished network accessHotspot and practical limit
AiraloMonaco Telecom; 5G listedSupported. Unlimited tethering shares the daily high-speed allowance.
HolaflyMonaco Telecom; 5G where available, 4G/LTE500 MB per day for tethering on this Monaco product.
Nomad eSIMMonaco Telecom; 4G on the checked local SKUsSupported; uses the fixed allowance. Device and network limitations can still apply.
SailyOperator not named; 3G/4G/LTE/5G depending on local providersNo separate hotspot restriction stated; sharing consumes your purchased data.

Sources: Airalo Monaco, Holafly Monaco, Nomad Monaco, Saily Monaco. Network generation is not a speed guarantee. Device support, indoor reception, congestion and routing can affect your result; I have no Monaco measurements that justify a 200 to 500 Mbps promise.

Conceptual France and Monaco diagram with four safe troubleshooting steps for eSIM coverage, data line, roaming and allowed network.
Manual selection cannot add a country to a plan. Use only supported networks and do not depend on a cross-border signal. This is a schematic, not a coverage map. Checked 2 November 2026.

About the French-network workaround: a phone may detect a network across a border, but detection does not prove that your eSIM is allowed to register on it. I would not plan a Monaco stay around forcing Orange, Free, SFR or Bouygues. Select only an operator supported by your purchased package and use the provider’s instructions. If Monaco is excluded, buy suitable coverage or use trusted Wi-Fi while resolving it. The slow-eSIM troubleshooting guide explains the settings to check without promising a particular speed.

Monaco eSIM prices compared in euros

These are the regular displayed prices checked on 2 November 2026, before coupons. The validity is part of the product: Airalo’s €4 entry plan lasts 3 days, while Nomad and Saily give their 1 GB options 7 days. A headline price alone hides that difference.

Fixed data: allowance, validity and total price

20 GB /30 days€24.00€34.93Not listed
50 GB /30 days€32.50Not listedNot listed

Official prices: Airalo, Nomad and Saily. Airalo’s 10 GB/30 day package costs €7.97 less than Nomad’s current equivalent. That is a useful saving, but it does not justify claiming every provider uses identical access. At 10 GB, compare the actual validity and network access before deciding whether that extra cost is useful to you.

Airalo, Nomad eSIM and Saily 5 GB and 10 GB prices, Airalo and Nomad 20 GB prices, and Airalo 50 GB for €32.50.
Official EUR prices before coupons, checked 2 November 2026. Airalo 10 GB/30 days €18; Nomad €25.97; Saily €42.49. Their published network access and conditions differ.

If you are weighing several countries, use the Europe price comparison alongside the provider guide. A cheaper country bundle stops being good value if it misses a stop on your route.

30 days€60.00€68.90

Airalo: the Monaco package states a reduction to 1 Mbps after 3 GB in a day. Airalo’s general unlimited guidance describes the initial daily allowance at 20 Mbps and a reset every 24 hours. Hotspot shares that allowance. A 5G connection icon does not remove those product limits.

Holafly: the Monaco product limits hotspot to 500 MB per day. It also allows temporary operator fair-use reductions lasting up to a day, without publishing a universal daily high-speed GB threshold for this product. I would not describe it as permanently unthrottled.

Airalo and Holafly unlimited Monaco prices by duration with 3 GB/day then 1 Mbps for Airalo and 500 MB/day hotspot for Holafly.
Checked 2 November 2026: Airalo has lower displayed prices at the shared durations; Holafly offers a €3.79 one-day product. Daily-speed and hotspot conditions differ. Eligible coupon terms apply.

For a laptop session, a fixed allowance can be easier to budget than a small daily tethering allowance. For uploads, ask how much data you need at usable speed that day. Buying an unlimited label does not guarantee faster service when a network is busy.

The four Monaco eSIMs in detail

Airalo official logo

Airalo: my first comparison for fixed data

Airalo’s useful advantage here is choice. Its Monaco store offers 12 fixed packages and 6 unlimited durations, so you can match a short visit rather than automatically buying 30 days. The local product is data-only on Monaco Telecom 5G; it is not the same product as Airalo Europe or Discover.

Complete Airalo fixed-data choices checked 2 November 2026

ValidityFixed-data choices
3 days1 GB €4.00; 3 GB €6.50
7 days3 GB €7.00; 5GB €9.50; 10 GB €16.00

30 days5GB €11.50; 10 GB €18.00; 20 GB €24.00; 50 GB €32.50

The exact package starts on first supported-network use and gives 365 days from purchase to begin. Its details allow a top-up within 120 days of activation; adding a package resets that window. Follow the installation instructions for your device rather than copying an APN or roaming setting from another provider. Check the current Monaco package details.

Holafly official logo

Holafly: a straightforward one-day choice

If Monaco is a single day in a France-based holiday, Holafly’s €3.79 option is an easy amount to budget. You still need data for the French part of that day, and a heavy laptop session is a poor fit for its 500 MB daily hotspot limit. I have used Holafly in Portugal, Turkey and Thailand, but that experience does not prove how it performs in Monaco.

The Monaco selector offers 1 to 90 days. Install ahead over a stable connection and start it when you reach the supported destination. The separate Always On benefit provides 1 GB of backup data per 30 day cycle in eligible destinations, with no rollover or hotspot. Keep the profile installed and check that benefit’s own list; it is not an extra unlimited Monaco allowance.

Holafly also sells monthly global subscriptions. Those involve recurring billing and their own coverage and conditions. A one-day country purchase and a recurring global plan solve different problems; compare the commitment before choosing.

This existing official video is specifically about APN configuration. Use it when Holafly’s instructions for your purchased eSIM require that step; it is not a Monaco unlimited-data test.

Nomad eSIM official logo

Nomad eSIM: a week of light use and familiar account management

Nomad’s 1 GB/7 day option is worth comparing if you need a small balance to last longer than Airalo’s 3 day entry package. It costs €2.27 more, so the decision is about validity and how you manage your trip. At 5GB, 10 GB and 20 GB with 30 day validity, Airalo costs less in this snapshot.

The current local prices are 1 GB/7 days €6.27, then 3 GB €11.64, 5GB €17.02, 10 GB €25.97 and 20 GB €34.93, all four larger sizes lasting 30 days. Every checked Monaco SKU specifies Monaco Telecom 4G. These are the official EUR prices, not my conversion of a US-dollar amount.

The Lilac plan details say first data use starts the plan, or it starts automatically 60 days after purchase. Install this profile once and keep it on the intended device. Buy an eligible add-on while the base plan is still active, before it expires or runs out; do not delete the profile while you need it.

Nomad’s add-on guidance explains how the next allowance starts after the base plan ends. Its hotspot guidance allows sharing, with device and network qualifications. Neither feature is a promise that every session will be uninterrupted, and neither makes Nomad the only provider with top-ups or tethering.

Saily official logo

Saily: security tools, with a separate bill for phone services

Saily’s Monaco store lists 1 GB/7 days for €7.49 and 3 GB, 5GB or 10 GB for 30 days at €18.49, €25.99 and €42.49. It is the most expensive of these three fixed-data options at the shared sizes. That premium should make sense to you before you buy; I would not subtract the value of a VPN subscription that the current package does not include.

The official security explanation describes ad blocking, web protection and virtual location. It also explicitly distinguishes Saily from a dedicated VPN. Those are useful features to consider, but they do not establish that a month of NordVPN Complete is bundled with this Monaco plan.

The plan can wait up to 180 days before automatic activation. It normally starts at the supported destination with the eSIM and roaming enabled. The store does not name its Monaco operator, so I cannot promise Monaco Telecom or 5G everywhere. Hotspot has no separate restriction stated and uses the bought allowance.

You can buy more data, and optional automatic top-ups can renew a plan when it runs out. Automatic purchases are at full price even if the original plan used a discount. Saily also offers a separate US number and minutes/SMS products; that is not a local +377 number or an included calling allowance. Check the destination and number rules if you need ordinary phone calls rather than WhatsApp.

Grand Prix and Yacht Show days: prepare what you need offline

Download your tickets, hotel details, maps and return travel information before joining a large crowd. Agree on a physical meeting point with companions. Those steps remain useful regardless of which eSIM you buy.

A bigger allowance can help if you upload lots of video, but buying unlimited does not buy priority on a congested network. I have not measured Monaco event-day performance, so I would not attach a speed figure, visitor count or guaranteed connection to any of these recommendations.

Can you buy a local SIM in Monaco?

Monaco Telecom publishes monthly mobile data subscriptions, including a no-commitment option and 5G. That is different from a simple prepaid visitor pack. I could not establish a currently available tourist prepaid offer or a blanket rule that every visitor is prohibited from subscribing.

If you want a local subscription, ask the operator directly about identification, address requirements, activation fees, billing and cancellation for your circumstances. For a short trip, a prepaid travel eSIM usually makes the total easier to understand before arrival. The eSIM versus physical SIM comparison covers that practical trade-off without treating a local SIM as impossible.

Arrival, setup and the places where you need a backup

Many Monaco visits start at Nice airport or elsewhere on the French Riviera. Make sure the France part is covered before you depend on mobile data for the onward journey. For a later stop across the Italian border, read the Italy guide and check Italy in your selected regional or global package.

Install over stable Wi-Fi before travel, then follow the exact provider instructions for activation, data roaming and the selected data line. Keep data roaming off on a home SIM that does not include Monaco, and check whether automatic mobile-data switching could send traffic through it. The activation walkthrough and compatible-phone checklist are useful before purchase.

For Casino Square, Port Hercule, La Condamine, Fontvieille or Larvotto, I would make the same basic preparation: save the address and maps offline. Buildings, tunnels and underground areas can interrupt reception, and none of the package pages guarantees a working signal at every point on your walk.

  • If data fails, check that your paid allowance is active and Monaco is included.
  • Select the intended eSIM for mobile data and follow its APN and roaming instructions.
  • Use manual network selection only for a network that the package permits. The usual paths are iPhone: Mobile Data → eSIM → Network Selection; Android: Connections → Mobile Networks → Network Operators. Menu names vary.
  • If it still fails, use trusted Wi-Fi and contact the provider. Do not delete an install-once eSIM as your first troubleshooting step.

FAQ: Monaco eSIM coverage, prices and setup

Answers checked against the official information on 2 November 2026. The limitations matter as much as the headline price.

What is the best eSIM for Monaco in 2026?

In the offers checked on 2 November 2026, Airalo is my first comparison for fixed data: 3 GB/3 days costs €6.50 and 10 GB/30 days costs €18. Holafly’s €3.79 one-day option suits a short visit if its 500 MB daily hotspot cap works for you. Nomad and Saily offer different validity, account and feature choices; no Monaco field test is claimed.

Does a Europe eSIM cover Monaco?

Not automatically. Checked 2 November 2026: Nomad Europe 35 and 36, Holafly Europe 33, Airalo Europe 41 and Saily Europe 35 do not list Monaco. Airalo Discover fixed-data and Saily Global do. Check the exact package rather than relying on the word Europe.

What happens if Monaco is missing from my plan?

You should not expect data service in Monaco under that package. A phone detecting a nearby French network does not prove contractual coverage. With a hom eSIM, charges depend on your operator’s Monaco tariff. Check this before travel; verified 2 November 2026.

Can manual network selection make a France eSIM work in Monaco?

It cannot add Monaco to the plan. Manual selection is useful only when you choose a network your purchased package supports. I would not rely on cross-border reception for an essential connection. Checked 2 November 2026.

Which networks do the four Monaco eSIMs use?

Checked 2 November 2026: Airalo names Monaco Telecom 5G; Holafly names Monaco Telecom with 5G where available/4G/LTE; Nomad’s local SKUs specify Monaco Telecom 4G. Saily does not name an operator on its Monaco page. This does not support an identical-coverage or identical-speed claim.

How much data should I buy for Monaco?

Estimate from how you use your phone, not the country’s size. Maps and messages need less data than video uploads or laptop sharing. Checked 2 November 2026 examples include Airalo 3 GB/3 days €6.50 and 10 GB/7 days €16. Download maps and tickets ahead. A busy event does not automatically require an unlimited product.

Can a tourist buy a local SIM in Monaco?

Monaco Telecom advertises monthly mobile subscriptions, including a no-commitment option. I could not verify a currently available tourist prepaid pack or a universal ban on visitor subscriptions. Ask about eligibility, documents, fees and cancellation. Checked 2 November 2026.

Is Monaco included in EU roaming rules?

Monaco is outside the EU and EEA, so EU roaming entitlements do not automatically cover it. Your operator may voluntarily include Monaco in your specific tariff. Check its country list and charges before buying an additional eSIM. Checked 2 November 2026.

Will an eSIM work during the Monaco Grand Prix?

A compatible active plan needs supported local coverage, but event-dayspeed cannot be guaranteed. Save tickets and maps offline and arrange a meeting point. A larger or unlimited allowance does not guarantee priority or faster service. These are planning recommendations, not a Monaco race-day test; updated 2 November 2026.

Should I buy a Monaco plan or a France plan?

Cover every part of the journey. Airalo’s Monaco product explicitly excludes France, while the checked Airalo and Nomad France local products do not list Monaco. Compare separate local plans with an exact global package that lists both. Airalo Discover and Saily Global list Monaco, France and Italy as checked 2 November 2026.

Do the unlimited Monaco plans have limits?

Yes. Checked 2 November 2026: Airalo Monaco reduces speed to 1 Mbps after 3 GB per day; its general guidance describes a 24 hour reset. Holafly’s Monaco hotspot limit is 500 MB per day and operator fair-use reductions may apply. Unlimited data does not mean unlimited full-speed tethering.

Does Saily Monaco include NordVPN?

The current checked package does not establish a bundled NordVPN Complete subscription. Saily includes app security features, which its official security page distinguishes from a dedicated VPN. Do not subtract an assumed VPN retail value from the data price. Checked 2 November 2026.

When do I need to activate the eSIM?

Checked 2 November 2026: the exact Airalo Monaco package has a 365 daystart deadline; Nomad starts on first use or automatically 60 days after purchase; Saily has a 180 day activation window. Holafly’s country plan begins at the supported destination when the line is enabled. Follow the purchase-specific instructions.

Which discount codes can I use?

Use ANDRE15 for 15% off eligible Airalo or Nomad purchases, ANDREONDIGITAL for 5% off eligible Holafly purchases, or ANDREONDIGITAL for 10% off eligible Saily purchases. Confirm the code, eligibility and final total at checkout. Prices and code information checked 2 November 2026.

Final verdict: start with the route, then choose the allowance

My practical picks after the official checks

For a normal weekend, I would start with Airalo’s 3 GB/3 day package at €6.50 and ask whether that covers my actual use. If Monaco is only one day and I want a simple daily bill, Holafly’s €3.79 plan is a sensible alternative, provided I am not depending on more than 500 MB of hotspot.

For a full week with very light use, Nomad’s 1 GB/7 day option is a reasonable comparison with Airalo’s shorter entry plan. At larger 30 day allowances, I would need a clear preference for Nomad’s account or add-on workflow to justify paying more. I would not pay a 5G premium for it: the checked Monaco product says 4G.

Saily makes more sense when its app features or separate phone services solve a specific need. Its 10 GB package costs €42.49; an unverified VPN bundle should not be used to make that price look lower. For 50 GB over 30 days, Airalo’s €32.50 offer is the strongest large fixed-data price in this four-provider comparison.

The decision I would make before all of that: check the journey through France as carefully as Monaco itself. A well-priced Monaco allowance is still the wrong purchase if you expect it to work at Nice airport, and a familiar Europe package is still the wrong purchase if Monaco is missing. Save the exact country list and plan rules with your order. That is a more useful safeguard than any promise of identical 5G coverage.
