Orange Belgium is the speed leader at 536 Mbps on 5G in independent testing. As a resident, it is the network I use every day for GPS across the Kempen, video in Antwerp and 5G in Brussels.

Proximus is the incumbent that holds where others fade, including rural Wallonia and the Ardennes forests. Together, Orange and Proximus cover the Belgian tourist circuit and sidestep Base entirely, the network that failed to get online on almost every eSIM in independent testing of 27 providers.

The pricing backs it up: 1GB at €3.94, 10GB at €14.01 and 20GB at €17.51. The 20GB plan is the sweet spot for a week across Brussels, Bruges and Antwerp, which typically uses 8–12GB with navigation and daily uploads.

Every fixed-data plan allows full hotspot use without a daily tethering cap. Airalo undercuts Nomad at several tiers, but it uses a single network, while Nomad’s unlimited throttles after 2GB/day. Heavy unlimited users should compare it with Saily’s 5GB/day allowance.

The trade-off is the network: Airalo runs on Telenet, a single carrier from the group that caused trouble for other eSIMs in independent testing. Airalo was the notable exception that worked properly on that network.

For Brussels, Bruges, Antwerp and Ghent, Airalo is completely practical and usually the cheapest option. For rural Wallonia or the Ardennes, Nomad’s access to Proximus is the safer choice.
