This Holafly review combines my earlier use in Portugal, Turkey and Thailand with a fresh check of the official plans on 16 October 2026. The travel notes describe what happened on those trips. The prices, coverage and restrictions below describe what Holafly is selling now. That distinction matters because an eSIM that worked well for me can still have a different allowance when you buy it.
I have kept the practical details I would check before buying: the exact country list, hotspot allowance, fair-use terms, activation date and whether the plan renews. Those details are easy to miss when the headline just says unlimited.

What Is Holafly? — Provider Overview
Holafly was founded in Spain in 2018 and sells travel eSIMs for more than 200 destinations. Its official site displayed a 4.7/5 Trustpilot rating when checked on 16 October 2026. That is a customer-review snapshot shown by the provider, separate from my own 4.5/5 editorial rating.
For a short trip, you choose the destination and duration rather than a fixed gigabyte bundle. A regional plan can follow you across its included countries. It still depends on local network coverage, and unlimited data does not promise uninterrupted full speed.
Three distinct plan types cover every traveller profile:
- Trip plans: country or regional eSIMs for a selected number of days. They begin when activated at the destination. Check the individual product for its available durations.
- Monthly consumer subscriptions: Light costs $49.90 for 25GB; Unlimited costs $64.90. Both cover 160+ destinations. Ultra is a separate $90.95 tier. Billing starts at purchase and renews automatically unless cancelled. Official subscription plans.

My Personal Testing — Portugal, Turkey & Thailand
The personal notes below are retained from my earlier trips. They are useful context for setup and everyday use, but they are not a new October speed test or a guarantee that the same network will be offered on your plan.
I’ve personally tested Holafly in three countries: Portugal, Turkey, and Thailand. Three very different network environments, three consistent experiences.
Portugal: Tested across Lisbon, Porto, and Figueira da Foz on the Holafly Europe plan. Coverage was solid throughout — Holafly connected to MEO, NOS, and Vodafone Portugal depending on location. Navigation, WhatsApp calls, and photo uploads ran without interruption. Urban coverage was excellent in all three cities.
Turkey: Turkey is one of the destinations where Holafly’s automatic carrier switching matters most — the country is large, with significant urban-to-rural coverage variation. Holafly performed well in Istanbul, Ankara, and main tourist areas. Coverage thinned in remote inland regions, which is consistent with any carrier’s infrastructure in those areas.
Thailand: Tested on Holafly’s Thailand plan. Coverage in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and coastal tourist areas was reliable. The extensive data model was particularly useful in Thailand, where navigation and ride-hailing apps (Grab) run constantly. No data anxiety throughout the trip.
Holafly Review 2026: Europe Plans and Current Prices
The current Holafly Europe plan lists 33 countries, including the UK, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Andorra. Turkey is not included in this Europe package. Check the full list against your route before paying. Holafly lists 5G where available, alongside 4G/LTE; local coverage and your device determine the connection. My earlier carrier observations above are not a promise of today’s network partner.

Unlimited does not mean guaranteed full speed. Holafly currently sells this as unlimited data. Its trip-plan terms allow local carriers to apply fair use. The product terms do not establish a universal 80GB, 90GB or 100GB threshold. I would not plan a working trip around one of those figures.
Europe hotspot: 1GB per day. That is the allowance for sharing with a laptop or another device on the current Europe trip plan. Phone data and shared data are different allowances. Consumer Unlimited subscriptions advertise unlimited hotspot, subject to their own terms; do not apply that promise to the day plan.
Balkans Plan (5 countries — separate from Europe plan)
Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia are outside the standard Europe plan. The separate five-country Balkans plan covers those stops. Compare the route first; a Europe label alone does not tell you whether the whole peninsula is included.

The current Eastern Europe plan lists Belarus, Moldova and Russia. Those destinations are outside the standard Europe package. It is a separate purchase, with its own coverage and usage conditions.

The number is for inbound SMS, not a full cellular calling plan. Unlimited and the newer Ultra tier include a US, UK or Canadian number, with VoIP-based calling described in the plan FAQ. Traditional incoming cellular calls are not supported. Do not assume every bank will send a verification code to it. Ultra costs $90.95/month and adds travel and wellbeing benefits; Light has no number.
Always On: A Small Backup After the Trip
Always On gives 1GB of backup data every 30 days in 150+ destinations after an eligible plan ends. Keep the eSIM installed. The allowance resets rather than accumulating, and the backup does not support hotspot. I see it as a way to check a map or arrange transport, not a replacement for a trip plan. Holafly Review 2026: How It Works — Setup & Activation
Setup was straightforward on my earlier trips. I would still install over a reliable Wi-Fi connection before departure, rather than treat a two-minute setup as a guarantee for every phone.

The Fair Use Policy — What It Actually Means
Holafly’s current unlimited-data FAQ explains that a local operator can temporarily reduce speed under fair use. It says an affected trip plan should return to its original speed the following day. Neither that FAQ nor the trip-plan terms gives a single high-speed allowance that applies to every destination.
For me, the useful question is what I need the connection to do. Maps and messages are more forgiving than a long video meeting or a large upload. I would keep reliable Wi-Fi or another connection available for work, rather than assume unlimited mobile data can replace home broadband.
Check the exact plan, not a universal throttle estimate. A fixed-data bundle gives you a measurable allowance; it still cannot guarantee network speed. Saily’s Europe unlimited product publishes 5GB per day before slower data. Nomad’s current Europe unlimited cards publish 2GB per day before slower data. These thresholds belong to those products, not every plan sold by either company.

Is Holafly eSIM worth it for Europe in 2026?
Holafly can be worth it if you want unlimited phone data for the duration of a trip. The current Europe plan costs €25.50 for 7 days and covers 33 countries, with 1GB/day available for hotspot. What is the Holafly Fair Use Policy?
Unlimited data can still be slowed by a local carrier under fair use. Holafly’s current help page says a temporary restriction on a trip plan should be lifted the following day. Final Verdict: Holafly Review 2026 — 4.5 / 5
My 4.5/5 rating reflects the convenience I valued on my earlier trips: straightforward setup and being able to use my phone without watching a gigabyte counter. I would still put Holafly on my shortlist for a busy sightseeing trip, once the country list matches the route.
The purchase decision is more specific than “heavy user equals Holafly.” For a week in Europe, €25.50 buys unlimited phone data with 1GB/day for sharing. If the laptop is doing most of the work, that sharing limit is the first thing I would check. A cheaper fixed bundle may be the better fit even for someone who travels often.
My positive experiences in Portugal, Turkey and Thailand do not remove the current restrictions. Turkey needs the appropriate separate package, carrier fair use can affect speed, and a recurring subscription starts billing at purchase. For frequent travel, the consumer Unlimited subscription is worth comparing, but I would not buy it as a domestic home-internet replacement: Holafly’s terms limit the service to international travel and restrict continuous roaming in one destination to 90 days.
- Buy Holafly if: the country list fits, you want a phone-focused trip plan and you accept the hotspot and fair-use conditions.
- Choose Nomad if: a fixed GB allowance fits your budget and you want to share that allowance with a laptop, or you need a long-validity Global-EX plan.
- Choose Airalo if: you want to compare fixed-data packages, eligible top-ups or a specific Discover+ bundle with calls and texts.
- Choose Saily if: its ad blocker, web protection and virtual-location features appeal to you. A standard Saily plan is not the same as a full NordVPN subscription.
