Editorial rating
SimOptions | October 2026
eSIM and physical SIM marketplace, established in 2014. Selected Orange and Bouygues plans include calls, SMS and a French number. This update checks the published offers and their conditions; it is not a new speed test of every plan.
Pros
  • French phone number, calls and SMS on selected Europe plans
  • Named Orange and Bouygues carrier products
  • Small data-only plans, starting at US$1.50 for 1GB over 3 days
  • Physical SIM cards available where delivery is offered
  • Europe unlimited options: US$24.90/7 days and US$39.90/14 days
  • 200+ destinations across the catalogue, according to SimOptions
  • 24/7 support advertised by the provider
  • App available for buying and managing supported eSIMs
Cons
  • The cheapest headline price may have a short validity
  • Product details and prices can differ between storefronts
  • Country lists, networks and speed depend on the selected package
  • Orange line registration matters if you keep the number beyond 31 days
  • The checked Bouygues packages do not support top-ups
  • Old O2 Go Card offers were not confirmed in the current Europe catalogue

Quick Verdict | October 2026

Best fit: A Europe trip where ordinary calls and a callback number matter. Month-long voice option: Bouygues My European 30GB, 30 days, US$32.90. Light data: Own-brand 5GB, 7 days, US$3.50. Calls for a shorter trip: Bouygues Travel Basic+ 20GB, 15 days, US$23.90. Check every stop on the package country list before buying; these offers have different allowances and durations.

Selected offers checked 21 October 2026. Orange 50GB/31 days is US$38.90; Bouygues 30GB/30 days is US$32.90. Calls and SMS depend on the package. The editorial score is not a new speed-test result.

What Is SimOptions?

SimOptions is a marketplace for prepaid eSIMs and physical SIM cards. It sells its own data packages alongside carrier products, including Orange and Bouygues Telecom. That gives you more choice, but the logo on the storefront does not tell you everything: the package determines the data allowance, country list, phone number, activation rule and top-up options. SimOptions says it was established in 2014; its website lists MWS HK LTD and a Hong Kong contact address.

Selected Orange and Bouygues packages include a French +33 number with ordinary calls and SMS. That can be useful for calling a hotel or receiving a callback. A data-only eSIM can still handle WhatsApp, maps and other internet services, and some competing providers sell separate voice-capable products. A new travel number does not automatically receive codes sent to your existing bank number. See Best eSIM for Europe 2026 for the wider comparison.

SimOptions advertises more than 200 destinations across its catalogue. That is the combined range of products, not a promise that one eSIM works in every destination. Physical SIM cards are also available, but check delivery coverage, timing and shipping cost before ordering one.

How SimOptions eSIM Installation Works

This SimOptions video introduces how an eSIM works and shows the basic idea behind installation. Use it as an introduction, then follow the instructions supplied with the package you actually buy.

Before paying, check that your exact phone model supports eSIM and is unlocked. Download the installation instructions while you have Wi-Fi, and keep the QR code available on another screen if your phone needs to scan it.

Installation and the start of the paid allowance are separate steps. The Europe packages checked here say they activate when the installed eSIM reaches an included destination. If you are already in that coverage area, installation may start the clock. Follow the product-specific instructions, choose the travel eSIM for mobile data, and check your home SIM settings to avoid unwanted roaming use.

For a multi-country trip, compare the actual list of destinations rather than buying on the word Europe alone. Read on for the carrier options, current prices, phone-number differences and the restrictions that matter once you are travelling.

The Four Carrier Families: What Each One Offers

The four names below represent different product families that have appeared in the SimOptions catalogue. Orange and Bouygues have current offers in the Europe listing checked for this update. O2 remains here for readers who have seen older Go Card recommendations, but its current offer could not be confirmed from that product list.

Check the package twice: first for your itinerary, then for the features you need. For example, Bouygues Travel Basic is data-only, while Travel Basic+ includes voice and SMS. A provider-level claim such as Bouygues includes calls would miss that difference.

Orange registration, top-ups and refunds: Orange says an unregistered line has an initial lifespan of 31 days. Identity verification extends the line lifespan; it does not add data or extend the purchased package. Register in time if you intend to keep the line. Orange lists top-up options, while the Bouygues packages checked here say no top-ups. SimOptions treats an emailed eSIM as a digital product: its FAQ allows a refund or change for a qualifying activation fault on its or the carrier’s side, but not simply for an incompatible phone or a change of mind. Read the Orange registration guidance and SimOptions FAQ before purchase.

The Phone Number Advantage: When It Helps

Calls and SMS are a useful reason to consider the selected Orange and Bouygues plans, especially when you need a hotel to call you back. They are not unique to this marketplace. The Europe data packages discussed in my Airalo, Nomad eSIM, Saily and Ubigi reviews serve a different need. Read the individual product details if you need native voice or a number.

A phone number helps in some situations. It does not solve all of them:

  • Bank verification: Codes normally go to the number registered on your account. A new French number does not redirect them; arrange access to your existing number or another method accepted by your bank.
  • Calling your host: A voice package lets you dial an ordinary phone number when the host cannot take an app call. Check that the destination and type of number are included.
  • Restaurant reservations: Ordinary calls can be convenient when a venue takes bookings by phone. You can also use its website or messaging service where offered.
  • Hotel callbacks: A French number on a voice-capable package gives reception a way to call you. Keep the eSIM active and check the incoming-call conditions.
  • Local apps: Some services verify accounts by SMS. Acceptance depends on that service and the number; a travel eSIM is not a promise that every verification will work.
A practical distinction: a French travel number can receive ordinary calls and SMS, but it does not replace the number already registered with your bank. Keep a working way to access that number or arrange another bank-approved authentication method before travelling. A new number may also be rejected by a particular app.
Examples of ordinary calls, hotel callbacks and banking SMS requirements for travellers in Europe
A voice-capable travel eSIM can provide a callback number, but a new number does not redirect bank messages or guarantee app verification. Keep access to the number registered with your bank. Checked 21 October 2026.

SimOptions Asia Plans (October 2026)

The checked Asia packages list 26 destinations and use 4G/LTE data, without ordinary calls or SMS. The 1GB package lasts 7 days; the larger packages below last 30 days. The product lists include Japan, South Korea, India, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Turkey, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Qatar, Kuwait, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Iraq and Bahrain. Check your route against the specific Asia offer, especially if you are also visiting a nearby destination not named in that list.

SimOptions Review 2026: Coverage Across 200+ Destinations

Think of the 200+ destination figure as a catalogue total. SimOptions sells country and regional products, and a package advertised for Europe does not automatically extend to Asia or the Americas. For a multi-continent trip, check whether a currently available regional or global product covers every stop, or budget for separate packages. I would not assume worldwide coverage from the brand name.

RegionHow to check coveragePractical note

Outside Europe, check voice and SMS separately. Some carrier products include them, while the Asia packages shown here are data-only. App calls can use a data connection; ordinary telephone calls require a suitable voice service. A local number does not guarantee acceptance by a bank or verification system.

Reading the table: Bouygues includes ordinary calls and SMS in its selected 30GB package. Nomad eSIM offers a larger fixed-data allowance in the example shown; Airalo and Holafly provide duration-based unlimited options with their own usage conditions. Compare the exact itinerary, high-speed allowance, hotspot rules and final checkout total. Neither an unlimited label nor a familiar carrier name guarantees a particular speed at your accommodation.

FAQ: SimOptions Review 2026

Is SimOptions legit and trustworthy?

SimOptions is an established marketplace that says it began in 2014 and lists MWS HK LTD as its business contact. It sells own-brand eSIMs and named carrier products. That does not make every plan identical: check the product, compatibility, country list and refund conditions before purchase. The provider displayed 4.5/5 on Trustpilot and 4.6/5 on its eKomi-linked review page when checked on 21 October 2026; these are changing review scores, not a guarantee of service.

Does SimOptions include a phone number with calls and SMS?

Selected plans do. The checked Bouygues Travel Basic+ 20GB/15-day package costs US$23.90; My European 30GB, 60GB and 120GB last 30 days and cost US$32.90, US$39.90 and US$55.90. They list a French number and calls/SMS within Europe. Orange Holiday Europe lists 50GB/31 days at US$38.90 with voice/SMS. Bouygues Travel Basic and the own-brand data packages do not include a number. Current O2 Go Card offers were not confirmed in the main Europe catalogue.

What is the cheapest SimOptions plan for Europe?

The lowest entry offer I found in the official Europe catalogue was US$1.50 for 1GB over 3 days. A 5GB package for 7 days was US$3.50. If you need ordinary calls and SMS, the checked Bouygues Travel Basic+ 20GB/15-day plan was US$23.90. These are different products and durations, with prices checked on 21 October 2026.

Is SimOptions cheaper than Airalo for Europe?

It depends on the package, duration and currency. The checked SimOptions 5GB offer costs US$3.50 and lasts 7 days, so it should not be compared as if it were a 30-day package. The selected Bouygues offers add voice and a French number, while the Airalo Europe packages shown here are data-only. Airalo also has other products, so a blanket claim that Airalo never offers calls or SMS would be misleading.

Does SimOptions cover Asia?

Yes. The checked Asia packages list 26 destinations and are data-only on 4G/LTE. The 1GB plan costs US$4.50 and lasts 7 days. The 3GB, 5GB, 10GB, 20GB and 30GB plans last 30 days and cost US$10.90, US$17.90, US$29.90, US$54.90 and US$79.90 respectively. Confirm every destination in the selected package before buying. Prices checked 21 October 2026.

Final Verdict: SimOptions Review 2026

Editorial rating: 4.0/5. I would shortlist SimOptions for a Europe trip when a French callback number and ordinary calls are useful. The checked Bouygues My European 30GB package gives you 30 days for US$32.90, while Orange Holiday Europe lists 50GB over 31 days for US$38.90. The choice depends on the country list and the call destinations you need, not just the larger data figure.

  • Shortlist SimOptions if: You need a named carrier package, ordinary calls or a French callback number. For a full month, compare Bouygues 30GB/30 days at US$32.90 with the exact Orange offer.
  • Compare alternatives if: You mainly need data, expect to top up repeatedly, or want an unlimited package. Check current Nomad eSIM, Airalo and Holafly terms rather than relying on an old sale price.

This article contains affiliate links. I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. SimOptions prices were checked in USD on simoptions.com on 21 October 2026. The comparison labels other storefront currencies explicitly. Prices and availability can change, and a carrier microsite may differ from the main catalogue. The retained 4.0/5 score is an editorial assessment, not a new measured performance result.

For a short trip spent mostly using maps and messaging, I would start with the smaller own-brand data offers and see whether their validity fits. For a longer trip involving ordinary calls, I would compare Orange and Bouygues separately. My France guide gives the context of my Bouygues experience and Orange purchase; it should not be read as a test of every SimOptions package. Before paying, check the exact phone model, each destination, the activation trigger and whether you can top up. Those details are more useful than a broad claim that one marketplace is best for everyone.
