Holafly or Airalo for Europe? I would start with your route and the amount of data you actually expect to use. Both now sell unlimited Europe packages, and both also have limits that matter when you share a connection with a laptop.
For a week in Europe, Airalo lists 5GB for US$18.50 or unlimited data for US$27.00. Holafly lists seven days of unlimited Europe data for US$27.50. Those are standard prices before coupons, checked on 24 October 2026. The cheaper option is not automatically the right one if a country on your itinerary is missing.
My experience with Holafly comes from previous trips in Thailand, Turkey and Portugal. The Thailand purchase covered 20 days, including Bangkok, Krabi, Koh Phi Phi and Phuket, under order #E2479455; the one-day Turkey stopover was order #E2485636. This update checks the providers’ current products. It is not a new head-to-head speed test, and I do not present Airalo’s current plans as personally tested on the same route.
My starting recommendation: choose a modest Airalo fixed-data package if you mostly need maps, messages and bookings. Compare both unlimited options if you expect heavier use. For regular laptop sharing, read the hotspot section before buying. Holafly’s global monthly subscription is a separate product and deserves a separate calculation.
Use my coupons on eligible purchases and confirm the discount in the checkout total. I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
Holafly vs Airalo for Europe: the quick comparison
| What matters | Holafly Europe trip plan | Airalo Europe |
|---|---|---|
| Seven days, unlimited | US$27.50 | US$27.00 |
| Thirty days, unlimited | US$76.50 | US$71.00 |
| Lower-cost fixed data | Europe trip product is unlimited | 5GB / 7 days: US$18.50 |
| Included countries | 33 listed | 41 listed |

These rows compare the regional Europe products. They do not describe every Holafly or Airalo plan worldwide. Local packages, global packages and subscriptions can have different prices, operators and rules.

Provider overview: choose the product before comparing the brand
Holafly: a Europe trip plan or a global subscription
Holafly sells prepaid Europe data for a chosen number of days. That is the straightforward option for a holiday with fixed dates: seven days costs US$27.50, and the Europe page allows 1GB of hotspot sharing per day. Unlimited phone data does not mean unlimited laptop data on this product.
Holafly also sells global monthly subscriptions covering 160+ destinations. Light includes 25GB for US$49.90 per month; Unlimited is US$64.90 per month; Ultra is US$90.95 per month. Those are the monthly billing prices displayed on its official Plans page. Unlimited and Ultra list a number for inbound SMS, not a normal calls-and-texts service.
You can read the longer account of my trips in the Holafly Review 2026. For this purchase, I would focus on the countries you will visit and whether the daily hotspot allowance fits your plans.
Airalo: fixed data and unlimited Europe packages
Airalo’s Europe page currently lists 41 countries. You can buy a small fixed-data package, a larger allowance or an unlimited package. For a short trip with hotel Wi-Fi, the fixed-data choices give you a useful way to keep the bill down. Unlimited packages are available without choosing a monthly global subscription.
The selected Europe package offers top-ups after installation and optional renewals. Check the renewal setting rather than assuming every purchase will always remain a one-off charge. For the app, installation and plan-management background, see my Airalo Review Europe 2026.
Price comparison: match the same number of travel days
A three-day package cannot cover a week just because its data allowance looks sufficient. Compare validity first, then data, then the final checkout price. The figures below are in USD and exclude my coupons.
Europe unlimited prices
| Trip length | Holafly Europe | Airalo Europe |
|---|---|---|
| 1 day | US$3.90 | No one-day option listed |
| 3 days | US$11.90 | US$11.50 |
| 5 days | US$20.50 | US$19.50 |
| 7 days | US$27.50 | US$27.00 |
| 10 days | US$37.50 | US$35.00 |
| 15 days | US$51.50 | US$49.00 |
| 30 days | US$76.50 | US$71.00 |
Airalo has the lower listed price in each matching duration shown here. The seven-day difference is only US$0.50 before discounts, so a missing destination or an unsuitable hotspot limit matters more than that small saving.
Airalo fixed-data packages
| Validity | Data | Price |
|---|---|---|
| 3 days | 1GB / 3GB | US$5.00 / US$10.00 |
| 7 days | 3GB / 5GB / 10GB | US$11.00 / US$18.50 / US$26.00 |
| 15 days | 5GB / 10GB / 20GB | US$19.00 / US$28.00 / US$47.00 |
| 30 days | 5GB / 10GB / 20GB / 50GB | US$19.50 / US$31.00 / US$48.00 / US$70.00 |
| 90 days | 50GB | US$100.00 |
| 180 days | 100GB | US$185.00 |
The US$5 entry plan lasts three days. For a full week, the smallest listed package in this check is 3GB for US$11.00. That distinction is easy to miss in a headline promising data “from US$5.”
What I would compare for three common trips
| Trip | Useful starting point | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 7 days, mostly maps and messaging | Airalo 3GB at US$11.00 or 5GB at US$18.50 | Lower upfront cost if the allowance fits |
| 15 days, photos and regular video calls | Airalo unlimited US$49.00; Holafly unlimited US$51.50 | Compare daily speed rules and hotspot needs |
| 30 days, laptop use on several days | Airalo 50GB at US$70.00 or unlimited at US$71.00 | A fixed total allowance and a daily high-speed allowance behave differently |
For example, a 50GB fixed plan may suit uneven usage, with one large upload and several quiet days. Airalo unlimited gives more flexibility across the trip, but its Europe daily speed threshold still applies. I would not choose between them from the word “unlimited” alone.
Where Holafly monthly Plans fit
| Monthly product | Published price | Reason to consider it |
|---|---|---|
| Light, 25GB | US$49.90 / month | A route across several covered regions |
| Unlimited | US$64.90 / month | Recurring global data with hotspot and inbound-SMS number |
| Ultra | US$90.95 / month | Additional travel and wellbeing services; check their separate terms |
For 30 days, Holafly’s US$64.90 global Unlimited subscription is US$6.10 below Airalo Europe unlimited at US$71.00 before coupons. That can be worth checking, but it introduces automatic billing and a different product contract. Holafly’s subscription terms tie billing renewals to the purchase date, not a delayed activation date. Confirm your first billing period and cancel renewal when you no longer need it.
Three holidays per year do not automatically make a year-round subscription cheaper. Compare the months you will actually pay for. At US$64.90 for each of 12 months, the standard-price total would be US$778.80. This is an arithmetic example, not a quoted annual-plan offer.

Unlimited data, speed and hotspot: the details that change the choice
Holafly Europe
The Europe trip plan has no fixed total data allowance that simply runs out, but the underlying operator can apply a fair-use policy. The checked product page does not publish a numerical daily high-speed threshold. Check that condition before relying on full speed for large uploads or video meetings.
Hotspot is clearer: the official Europe page says 1GB per day for sharing. A seven-day plan therefore provides 7GB of shareable data across its duration, subject to that daily allowance. That can cover occasional laptop access, but I would not plan a full day of video meetings around it.
My earlier notes recorded Holafly speeds of 38–52Mbps in Bangkok, 15–25Mbps on Koh Phi Phi, 35–48Mbps in Porto and 42–55Mbps in Spain. These remain historical observations from the earlier version, not measurements repeated for this October update or evidence that one provider is faster today.
Airalo Europe
The seven-day Europe unlimited package checked here discloses 5GB per day, then 1Mbps. Its general policy uses a default daily threshold but allows a different one to be stated in the package details. For this comparison, the Europe package details are the relevant figure. The daily reset follows the plan’s activation-based 24-hour period.
Airalo permits personal hotspot use on supported devices and networks. Its unlimited policy does not set a separate tethering-device limit, but shared traffic still uses the same data service and can reach the daily high-speed threshold. Fixed-data sharing consumes the purchased allowance. Neither should be treated as an unlimited full-speed home broadband replacement.
See Airalo’s unlimited fair-use policy and Holafly’s trip service terms. For eSIM technology background, the GSMA official eSIM resource explains the standard; it does not establish a particular retail plan’s 5G coverage.
Europe coverage: check your countries and the actual partner networks
The current regional lists are 33 countries for Holafly and 41 for Airalo. These are European coverage lists, not counts of EU member states. Country count alone does not establish better signal.
| Itinerary detail | Holafly Europe list | Airalo Europe list |
|---|---|---|
| France, Spain, Italy, Portugal | Included | Included |
| United Kingdom and Switzerland | Included | Included |
| Andorra | Listed | Not listed in this check |
| Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia | Not listed in this Europe product | Listed |
| Turkey and Georgia | Not listed in this Europe product | Listed |
This matters for an itinerary such as Dubrovnik to Kotor: Croatia and Montenegro are not interchangeable coverage entries. Check every stop, including layovers where you want mobile data. Holafly sells other regional and country products; a country missing from this Europe list may still be available through another plan.
| Country | Holafly Europe partner list | Airalo Europe partner list |
|---|---|---|
| France | Orange, SFR, Bouygues Télécom, Free Mobile | Free Mobile, Orange, Bouygues Télécom |
| Italy | Vodafone Italy, WINDTRE | ILIAD Italia, WINDTRE |
| Portugal | MEO, NOS, Vodafone Portugal | NOS, MEO |
| Croatia | Telemach Croatia, A1 Hrvatska | Telemach, A1 Hrvatska |
| Montenegro | Not in this Europe package | MTEL |
These are the names shown in the providers’ coverage dialogs on 24 October 2026. A partner listing is not a promise that every network is available at every location or that 5G is included on every connection. Buildings, terrain, congestion and the selected package all matter. Download maps before a mountain drive or ferry crossing.
EU-based buyers: Holafly’s current trip terms restrict the service to international travel and define domestic use for an EU-based customer as the entire EU. Confirm eligibility before buying a Europe trip plan for travel within the EU. Do not assume the same wording applies to a separate subscription contract.
If Europe is only one part of the trip, compare the destination-specific details in Best eSIM for Thailand and Best eSIM for Japan. Check the actual global-plan destination list before relying on one eSIM for both legs.
App, installation and activation
Holafly setup
Install over a reliable internet connection before departure when possible. The Europe trip page says the plan begins after arrival when you turn on the eSIM at the destination. That differs from the subscription billing schedule discussed above. Keep your main SIM’s roaming settings under control and select the travel eSIM for mobile data.
My earlier Bangkok airport setup note recorded activation in under 90 seconds. Treat that as one past experience, not an installation-time promise. Leave yourself enough time to check compatibility, download the profile and follow the instructions.
This retained Holafly walkthrough is useful for the installation steps. Use the written prices and conditions above if the video shows an older offer.
Airalo setup
The app lets you purchase, install and manage the package, with top-ups available for the checked Europe eSIM. Its details allow up to 365 days from purchase to begin using it; validity starts when it connects to a supported network in the coverage area. Installing it while already inside that area can therefore start the clock.
If you like to compare the installation and plan-management process before buying, my Nomad eSIM Review 2026 covers another app-based option.
Keep this installation video handy, but follow the instructions supplied with your exact device and purchased package.
Customer support
Both providers advertise 24/7 assistance. Airalo lists multilingual support and a WhatsApp contact option, which is useful if you would rather keep the conversation in an app you already use.
My earlier Holafly support note recorded a reply in under three minutes at 11 p.m. That is a past interaction, not a service-level guarantee. I cannot rank current response times without a fresh, comparable support test. Save the provider’s instructions and order details before departure so you can troubleshoot over airport or hotel Wi-Fi if needed.
When I would choose Holafly
- You want a Europe trip package matched to your travel dates and its 33-country list covers your entire route.
- The 1GB daily hotspot allowance is enough, and you prefer the day-based product after checking fair-use terms.
- You have a multi-region itinerary and have separately checked the global subscription’s destination list, billing date and renewal terms.
- You value the provider based on your own previous experience, while accepting that a new destination can perform differently.
When I would choose Airalo
- You want a small fixed allowance for maps, messaging and bookings instead of paying for unlimited data.
- Your European route includes a listed Balkan destination missing from Holafly’s standard Europe package.
- You want to compare fixed data and unlimited inside the same app, with package top-ups available.
- You need hotspot sharing without a separate 1GB daily sharing allowance, while accepting the Europe unlimited speed threshold or a fixed plan’s total data limit.
FAQ: Holafly vs Airalo for Europe
Is Holafly or Airalo better in 2026?
For a light-data Europe trip, I would start with Airalo’s fixed packages. For heavier use, compare both unlimited products, their country lists and hotspot rules. Holafly’s global subscription is a separate option for a different itinerary and billing preference.
Which is better for Europe specifically?
Airalo currently lists 41 countries and Holafly Europe lists 33. Check the complete route: Airalo includes Montenegro in its Europe list, while Holafly lists Andorra. Better coverage for your trip means the right countries and useful local partners, not simply the larger count.
Which is cheaper for a seven-day Europe trip?
Before coupons, Airalo lists 3GB for US$11.00, 5GB for US$18.50 and unlimited for US$27.00. Holafly Europe unlimited is US$27.50 for seven days. Prices were checked on 24 October 2026; confirm the selected package and discount at checkout.
Can I share data with a laptop?
Holafly Europe allows 1GB per day of hotspot sharing. Airalo allows personal hotspot on supported devices and networks; usage consumes the fixed allowance or the unlimited plan’s daily high-speed allowance. Global subscriptions have their own terms.
Which provider has 24/7 support?
Both advertise 24/7 support. Airalo lists multilingual help, including WhatsApp. I have not repeated a matched response-time test for this update, so earlier anecdotes should not be read as current response guarantees.
Can I switch from Airalo to Holafly during a trip?
Yes, if your device supports the new eSIM and is unlocked. You need a working internet connection to obtain and install the replacement. Check activation timing before switching the mobile-data line, and retain access to your original plan until the new one works.
Is unlimited data always at full speed?
No. The checked Airalo Europe unlimited package specifies 5GB per day, then 1Mbps. Holafly’s Europe trip service is subject to operator fair use without a numerical daily threshold on the checked page. Neither wording guarantees uninterrupted full-speed data.
Do these Europe plans include calls or a phone number?
The Europe data packages compared here do not include conventional calls and SMS. Internet calling apps use the data connection. Holafly’s separate global Unlimited and Ultra subscriptions list a number for inbound SMS; that is not the same as a normal voice service.

Final Verdict: my choice depends on the trip, not the slogan
For a typical week of city sightseeing with hotel Wi-Fi, I would start with Airalo’s 3GB or 5GB package. Spending US$11.00 or US$18.50 makes more sense than buying unlimited data you are unlikely to use. Check the allowance in your phone’s settings during the trip and decide early whether a top-up is needed.
For a week with frequent video calls, uploads or little Wi-Fi, the unlimited comparison is closer: US$27.00 for Airalo against US$27.50 for Holafly before coupons. My own past Holafly use is a reason I am comfortable considering it, but I would still check the current country list and terms. A personal experience should help you judge the recommendation, not hide the limits.
If the laptop is essential, start with the hotspot rules. Holafly Europe’s 1GB per day can be restrictive. Airalo’s sharing policy is more flexible, but a busy day can still push its Europe unlimited package down to 1Mbps after 5GB. A larger fixed-data package may be more useful if your heavy usage is concentrated on a few days.
For several countries across Europe and Asia in the same month, Holafly’s global subscription deserves its own look. Before choosing it, compare the route in Best eSIM for Japan or Best eSIM for Vietnam, then check the subscription coverage and billing dates. I would not keep paying through unused months merely because I travel a few times a year.
My recommendation is to make the smallest purchase that comfortably fits the trip. Confirm every country, leave room for the data you will actually use, and choose a hotspot allowance that works for your devices. That is more useful than declaring one brand the winner for everyone.
Prices, country lists, partner networks and plan conditions checked on the official provider sites on 24 October 2026. Coupon eligibility and totals must be confirmed at checkout. Previous personal Holafly experiences are retained as historical observations; this update adds no new travel or speed-test claim.
