Last updated: September 2026. Every price and island list below was read from each provider’s own regional page, and coverage was checked island by island rather than taken from the headline count. That turned up a gap in three of the six plans that no published comparison mentions. All prices in USD. Always confirm at checkout.

Choosing the Best eSIM for the Caribbean 2026 starts with your itinerary. The appeal of a regional plan is obvious: one profile, twenty-odd islands, no setting up a new eSIM in every port or at every airport. For island hopping and cruise itineraries that is exactly the right product, and it works well.
Then you read the island lists, and two things fall out that no comparison we found mentions. Three of the six plans do not cover the Dominican Republic, which receives more visitors than anywhere else in the region. And the same thirty days of unlimited data costs $78.37 from one provider and $161.50 from another, a gap of more than double for a product that looks identical on a comparison table.
How we compared the Best eSIM for the Caribbean 2026: I’m based in Belgium and compare eSIM providers full-time. Every price and island list here was read from each provider’s own Caribbean page in September 2026, and coverage was checked island by island from the published lists rather than inferred from a headline number. That method produced the main finding below.
I’ve personally tested Airalo and Nomad in Portugal and Holafly in Portugal, Turkey and Thailand, so no Caribbean speed or coverage claim here comes from my own experience; performance figures are attributed to the testing that produced them. If your trip is a single island, our Dominican Republic guide compares the country-specific options, which are usually far cheaper than a regional bundle.
🇩🇴 The finding: Airalo, Saily and Nomad do not cover the Dominican Republic. Punta Cana, Puerto Plata and Santo Domingo all sit outside those three regional plans, and the Dominican Republic receives more visitors than any other Caribbean destination. Only aloSIM, Holafly and GigSky include it.
What makes this genuinely easy to miss is that all three of the plans that skip it do list Dominica, which is a completely different country: a small island in the Lesser Antilles with around seventy thousand residents, roughly a thousand kilometres away. The names sit next to each other alphabetically and read almost identically in a long list. If Punta Cana is your destination, three of the six best-known Caribbean plans will not connect you.
⚡ Best eSIM for the Caribbean 2026, Quick Answer
🥇 Best unlimited by a distance: GigSky · $78.37 for 30 days against Airalo’s $160 · free 100MB trial
💰 Best fixed data: Nomad · $17 for 3GB, $36 for 10GB · but no Dominican Republic
🇩🇴 Going to Punta Cana: aloSIM ($6.50 for 1GB), Holafly or GigSky. The other three skip it
🚢 Cruising: Holafly’s cruise plan at $97.90 for 30 days covers the mainland ports too
🗺️ Widest list: Saily at 29 destinations · Airalo and GigSky at 26 · Nomad at 15
⚠️ These regional land plans do not work at sea. Maritime packages are separate
⚠️ Holafly’s cruise plan excludes CocoCay, Ocean Cay and Freeport
📶 5G exists in Puerto Rico and the Cayman Islands. Everywhere else is LTE
Coverage Checked Island by Island
Headline counts are the wrong way to compare these plans, because a longer list can still miss the island you are flying to. For this Best eSIM for the Caribbean 2026 comparison, we checked the destinations below against each provider’s own published island list.
| Plan | Total | 🇩🇴 Dom. Rep. | 🇵🇷 Puerto Rico | 🇧🇸 Bahamas | 🇯🇲 Jamaica | 🇧🇧 Barbados | 🇦🇼 Aruba | 🇻🇮 US Virgin Is. |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Saily Caribbean | 29 | ❌ no | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ❌ |
| Airalo Caribbean | 26 | ❌ no | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ❌ |
| GigSky Caribbean | 26 | ✅ | ❌ | ✅ | ✅ | ❌ | ✅ | ❌ |
| aloSIM Caribbean | 20 | ✅ | ✅ 5G | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ only one |
| Holafly Caribbean | 18 | ✅ | ❌ | ❌ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ❌ |
| Nomad Caribbean | 15 | ❌ no | ❌ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ❌ | ❌ |
⚠️ Three gaps worth knowing beyond the Dominican Republic. Holafly’s regular Caribbean plan does not include the Bahamas, which is unexpected for an eighteen-destination list, though its separate cruise plan does. GigSky’s published Caribbean list does not show Puerto Rico, despite covering twenty-six destinations. And aloSIM is the only one of the six covering the US Virgin Islands, which puts Saint Thomas and Saint John outside every other plan here. None of this is hidden; all six publish their lists openly.
It simply means the total is the least useful number on the page.
🧭 How to use the table above. Write down your actual stops, then find them in the list for the plan you are considering. For a Punta Cana or Santo Domingo trip, that leaves aloSIM, Holafly or GigSky. For Saint Thomas, only aloSIM. For a Puerto Rico and Eastern Caribbean route, Saily, Airalo or aloSIM. It takes two minutes and it is the only step in this guide that cannot go wrong.
We applied the same method in our Central America guide, where it turned up a country that no regional plan covers at all.

Unlimited Data: The Same Month Costs $78 or $161
This part of our Best eSIM for the Caribbean 2026 comparison looks at unlimited data for the same trip length. This is the widest price gap we have found for a comparable product in any region, and it runs in a direction the published comparisons do not report.
| Duration | GigSky | Holafly Cruise | aloSIM | Airalo | Holafly Caribbean | GigSky saves |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 day | $6.64 | $9.50 | — | — | $14.90 | vs Holafly, 55% |
| 3 days | $13.77 | $17.90 | $21.50 | $19.50 | $19.90 | 29% vs Airalo |
| 5 days | $21.37 | $28.90 | $37.00 | $33.50 | $33.90 | 36% |
| 7 days | $27.54 | $39.50 | $48.50 | $45.00 | $45.50 | 39% |
| 10 days | $34.49 | $50.50 | $63.50 | $60.00 | $60.50 | 43% |
| 15 days | $46.49 | $60.90 | $85.00 | $99.00 | $90.50 | 53% |
| 30 days | $78.37 | $97.90 | $97.00 | $160.00 | $161.50 | 51%, a saving of $81.63 |
💸 Airalo’s and Holafly’s Caribbean unlimited plans are the most expensive they sell anywhere in the world. That is not our characterisation; a competing retailer states it plainly when explaining why its own Caribbean pricing is uncompetitive. The numbers back it up. Those same two providers charge roughly $61 to $71 for a 30-day unlimited plan in Europe or Malaysia, and $97 in Central America. In the Caribbean they charge $160 and $161.50.
Wholesale roaming across dozens of small island markets genuinely costs more, so this is not price gouging. What is harder to explain is that GigSky delivers the same thirty days for $78.37, which is less than half, and that not one of the seven published Caribbean comparisons we read ranks it.
🆓 And you can test GigSky before paying anything. It offers 100MB over seven days at $0.00 with no card required, which for the Caribbean specifically is worth using. Coverage varies island by island more than almost anywhere, so confirming that the profile installs and connects on your particular island before committing $78 is a genuinely useful option. Our GigSky review covers the provider in full, including where its pricing is less competitive.

Finding the Best eSIM for the Caribbean 2026 does not always mean buying unlimited data. Compare the allowance and validity below, then check whether the regional plan covers your stops.
| Size | Nomad | GigSky | aloSIM | Airalo | Saily | Cheapest |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1GB | $8.00 / 7d | $6.99 / 7d | $6.50 / 7d | $8.00 / 3d | $8.99 / 7d | aloSIM |

| 20GB | $49.00 / 30d | $66.49 / 60d | — | — | — | Nomad on price, GigSky on validity |
| 50GB | — | $132.99 / 90d | — | — | — | GigSky, only tier |
| Free trial | — | 100MB / 7d free | — | — | — | GigSky |
💰 Nomad owns the middle of the fixed-data range and cannot take your Punta Cana trip. At $21 for 5GB, $36 for 10GB and $49 for 20GB it is cheapest at every size most travellers buy, undercutting Saily by $12.99 at 5GB and Airalo by $12 at 10GB. It also runs Flow across almost every island, a single consistent network rather than a patchwork.
The catch is its fifteen-destination list, the shortest here, which omits the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Aruba. For a route through Jamaica, Barbados, Saint Lucia and the Cayman Islands it is excellent value. For much else, check first.

Nomad Video Guide for a Caribbean Trip

Check aloSIM Caribbean plans → code ANDREONDIGITAL for 15% offBest eSIM for the Caribbean 2026: Cruise Ports and Sea Coverage
🚢 The Caribbean regional plans compared here are land-based, including the one named after cruises. Your data works at covered ports and stops once the ship leaves coastal range, which on a Caribbean itinerary is most of your waking hours. Holafly states this on its own cruise product page, saying the eSIM provides coverage only on land and does not guarantee coverage at sea.
That is an honest disclosure rather than fine print, and it applies equally to every other plan on this page. For sailing hours, compare the ship’s paid Wi-Fi with a separate maritime package, as explained below.
🏝️ And three Bahamas stops are excluded even at port. Holafly’s cruise plan states that coverage is currently unavailable at Freeport, CocoCay and Ocean Cay. That matters more than a list of three place names suggests: CocoCay is Royal Caribbean’s private island and Ocean Cay is MSC’s, and between them they appear on an enormous share of Western Caribbean itineraries. If your cruise includes one of these stops, do not rely on Holafly’s Caribbean Cruise plan there.
Holafly Caribbean against Holafly Caribbean Cruise
| Caribbean | Caribbean Cruise | |
|---|---|---|
| Destinations | 18 islands | 11, including mainland ports |
| 30 days unlimited | $161.50 | $97.90 |
| 1 day | $14.90 | $9.50 |
| 7 days | $45.50 | $39.50 |
| Includes mainland ports | ❌ | ✅ Mexico, Honduras, Colombia, Panama, USA |
| Bahamas | ❌ not included | ✅ except Freeport, CocoCay, Ocean Cay |
| Puerto Rico | ❌ | ✅ |
| Barbados, Saint Lucia, Aruba | ✅ | ❌ |
| Works at sea | ❌ | ❌ neither does |
⚓ The cruise plan is cheaper and genuinely better designed for its purpose. At $97.90 against $161.50 for the same thirty days, it costs $63.60 less, and it covers the mainland ports a Caribbean itinerary actually touches: Cozumel in Mexico, Roatán in Honduras, Cartagena in Colombia, Colón in Panama and the Florida departure ports. The regular Caribbean plan covers none of those.
So for a Western Caribbean loop out of Miami the cruise version is clearly the right product, and for a land stay on Barbados or Saint Lucia, neither of which it includes, the regular plan is. The names describe the itinerary rather than the capability, and reading them the other way round is the mistake to avoid.
🌊 If you genuinely need data at sea. That requires a separate maritime package rather than one of the regional land plans compared here, and it is priced in a different universe. GigSky sells cruise packages that work in open water, and our GigSky review found its cheapest maritime rate at $17.50 per gigabyte against $1.16 on a land plan.
Its Cruise Essentials tier at $6.99 a day covers selected messaging and navigation apps rather than open internet, which for staying reachable at sea is usually the sensible purchase. Compare that against the ship’s own wifi pricing before you sail.

Holafly Video Guide for a Caribbean Trip
Holafly has two different products in this comparison: Caribbean and Caribbean Cruise. Watch the Holafly video below alongside the review, then use the table above to choose the plan that matches your islands or mainland ports.
Our Holafly review 2026 provides more background on the provider. Remember that the Caribbean Cruise plan described here is for connectivity on land, not at sea; check the named Bahamas exclusions before selecting it for a cruise.

Check Holafly plans and choose Caribbean or Caribbean Cruise →Networks, Speeds and How Much Data You Need
For maps, messages or remote work, choosing the Best eSIM for the Caribbean 2026 also means matching the plan to your usage. Once your islands are covered, compare the published networks and the amount of data you will need.
| Provider | Networks published | 5G |
|---|---|---|
| Airalo | Digicel on most islands · Aliv in the Bahamas · Claro in Puerto Rico · Telcell in Saint Martin and Sint Maarten · U-Mobile in Guyana | Puerto Rico |
| aloSIM | Cable & Wireless on most islands · Setar in Aruba · UTS in Curaçao · Claro and Liberty Mobile in Puerto Rico | Puerto Rico and Cayman Islands |
| Nomad | Flow across almost everything · BTC in the Bahamas | ❌ 4G on all 15 |
| Holafly | Digicel and Flow by island · Altice in the Dominican Republic | Where available |
📶 Expect LTE nearly everywhere, and do not pay extra for 5G. The published lists are specific: aloSIM shows 5G in the Cayman Islands and Puerto Rico and LTE on everything else, Nomad publishes 4G across all fifteen of its destinations with no 5G at all, and independent testing across eight islands reported 5G in Puerto Rico only. A plan advertising 5G in the Caribbean is advertising something that applies to one or two destinations, not the region.
LTE handles maps, ride-hailing, messaging and social media perfectly well, which is what Caribbean data is mostly used for.
📊 How much data you actually need, which is less than the unlimited pricing implies. For a cruise week where you only switch data on at port, 1 to 2GB across the whole trip is usually enough, because sailing hours are spent offline anyway. For a one-week resort or single-island stay, 3GB is comfortable. Budget 5GB or more only if you are working remotely, streaming or tethering a laptop.
On those numbers, aloSIM’s 1GB at $6.50 covers a cruise week and Nomad’s 5GB at $21 covers a resort week, which reframes the $160 unlimited plans as products for a much smaller group of travellers than the marketing suggests.
Airalo Video Guide for a Caribbean Trip
Airalo appears in both the fixed-data and unlimited Caribbean tables. Watch the Airalo video below as a companion to the provider review, but use the Caribbean country list for the coverage decision: this regional plan lists Dominica, not the Dominican Republic.
For more background on Airalo, read our Airalo review for Europe 2026. That review concerns a different region, so use the Caribbean prices and island lists in this article when choosing this trip’s plan. Our Saily vs Airalo comparison offers a separate provider comparison.

FAQ, Best eSIM for the Caribbean 2026
Three of the six: aloSIM, Holafly and GigSky. Airalo, Saily and Nomad all leave it out of their Caribbean regional plans, which matters more than any other coverage gap in this region because the Dominican Republic receives more visitors than anywhere else in the Caribbean. Punta Cana, Puerto Plata and Santo Domingo are all outside those three plans.
There is a trap in the country lists that makes this easy to miss: all three do list Dominica, which is an entirely different country, a small island in the Lesser Antilles with around 70,000 residents. The names look similar enough that a quick scan of the list reads as covered when it is not. If Punta Cana is your destination, buy aloSIM, Holafly or GigSky, or buy a country-specific Dominican Republic plan. Verified September 2026.
Because wholesale roaming costs across dozens of small island markets are genuinely high, and because most providers price the region as a premium. Airalo charges $160 for a 30-day unlimited Caribbean plan and Holafly charges $161.50, which one competing retailer describes as the most expensive unlimited passes either company sells anywhere in the world. For comparison, the same providers charge around $61 to $71 for a 30-day unlimited plan in Europe or Malaysia.
The exception is GigSky, whose 30-day Caribbean unlimited costs $78.37, roughly half the Airalo and Holafly figure, and which no published comparison of this region appears to rank. Verified September 2026.
GigSky, by a wide margin at every duration. Its unlimited plans run $13.77 for three days, $27.54 for a week, $46.49 for fifteen days and $78.37 for thirty, against Airalo at $19.50, $45, $99 and $160 for the same periods. That works out to 29% cheaper at three days, 39% at a week, 53% at fifteen days and 51% at thirty.
GigSky also offers a free 100MB trial over seven days with no card required, so you can confirm it connects on your island before paying anything. The trade is that its published Caribbean list does not include Puerto Rico, so check your specific destinations first. Verified September 2026.
Not with the regional land plans compared here. Their data works at covered ports and stops as soon as the ship leaves coastal range. Holafly’s plan marketed for Caribbean cruises states this on its own page, saying it provides coverage only on land and does not guarantee coverage at sea.
The same page notes that Bahamas coverage is currently unavailable at Freeport, CocoCay and Ocean Cay, which matters because CocoCay is Royal Caribbean’s private island and Ocean Cay is MSC’s, both extremely common stops. If you need connectivity during sailing hours, that requires a maritime plan such as GigSky’s cruise packages, which are priced entirely differently and cost far more per gigabyte. Verified September 2026.
For a cruise, usually yes, and for a land trip no. The cruise version covers eleven destinations and costs $97.90 for thirty days, while the regular Caribbean plan covers eighteen and costs $161.50.
The cruise plan is cheaper because it is built around cruise itineraries rather than island stays: it includes the mainland ports that Caribbean routes actually touch, namely Mexico, Honduras, Colombia, Panama and the United States, alongside the Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Saint Martin. If your route is a classic Western Caribbean loop out of Florida, it fits well.
If you are staying on Barbados or Saint Lucia, neither of which it covers, the regular plan is the one you need. Verified September 2026.
Less than most guides suggest, particularly on a cruise. For a cruise week where you only switch data on while docked, 1 to 2GB across the whole trip is usually enough, because sailing hours are spent offline. For a one-week resort or single-island stay, 3GB is a comfortable figure. Budget 5GB or more only if you are working remotely, streaming, or tethering a laptop.
That makes Nomad’s 3GB at $17 or aloSIM’s 1GB at $6.50 sensible starting points for most trips, and it means the expensive unlimited plans are worth their price for a much smaller group of travellers than the marketing implies. Verified September 2026.
Saily on the raw count at 29 destinations, followed by Airalo and GigSky at 26, aloSIM at 20, Holafly at 18 and Nomad at 15. But the raw count is misleading here, because Saily’s 29 includes the United States, Panama and French Guiana, and it still leaves out the Dominican Republic. The more useful question is whether a plan covers your specific islands.
aloSIM’s 20 destinations include both the Dominican Republic and the US Virgin Islands, neither of which appears on several longer lists. Open the country list for the plan you are considering and look for your actual stops rather than comparing totals. Verified September 2026.
Digicel, Flow and Cable & Wireless carry most of the region, with local operators filling gaps. Airalo runs Digicel across most islands, with Aliv in the Bahamas, Claro in Puerto Rico, Telcell in Saint Martin and Sint Maarten, and U-Mobile in Guyana. Nomad runs Flow across almost everything, with BTC in the Bahamas. aloSIM runs Cable & Wireless on most islands, Setar in Aruba, UTS in Curaçao and the Netherlands Antilles, and both Claro and Liberty Mobile in Puerto Rico.
Holafly mixes Digicel and Flow by island, with Altice in the Dominican Republic. Each island is effectively its own market, which is why coverage varies more here than in a single-country region. Verified September 2026.
Very few places, and the published lists are specific about it. aloSIM shows 5G in the Cayman Islands through Cable & Wireless, and in Puerto Rico through both Claro and Liberty Mobile. Everywhere else on its list is LTE. Nomad publishes 4G across all fifteen of its destinations with no 5G at all. Independent testing across eight islands reported 5G in Puerto Rico only.
So a plan advertising 5G in the Caribbean is advertising a capability that applies to one or two destinations rather than the region, and for most islands you should expect LTE. That is generally sufficient for maps, messaging and social media, which is what most Caribbean data is used for. Verified September 2026.
Regional for anything touching more than two islands, and country-specific for a single-destination stay. A regional plan removes the need to install a new profile at each stop, which is the main reason to buy one, and it matters most on cruise itineraries hitting several ports in a week.
For a one-week stay in Punta Cana or Montego Bay, a country plan is usually far cheaper: Saily sells country plans from $3.99 for Puerto Rico and the French territories, and GigSky sells Dominican Republic from $4.99. Our Dominican Republic guide compares the single-country options in detail. The hybrid that works is a regional plan for a multi-island route plus a country plan for any destination the regional plan omits. Verified September 2026.
Final Verdict: Best eSIM for the Caribbean 2026
The Caribbean rewards reading the island list more than reading the reviews. Six plans, six different footprints, and a price spread on identical unlimited data of more than double. Check your islands first, then pick on price.

- ♾️ Unlimited: GigSky at $78.37 for thirty days, against $160 from Airalo and $161.50 from Holafly. Test it first with the free 100MB
- 💰 Fixed data: Nomad at $21 for 5GB, $36 for 10GB and $49 for 20GB, cheapest at every size people actually buy
- 🇩🇴 Punta Cana or Santo Domingo: aloSIM at $6.50 for 1GB, Holafly or GigSky. The other three do not cover it
- 🇻🇮 Saint Thomas or Saint John: aloSIM, the only plan here covering the US Virgin Islands
- 🚢 Western Caribbean cruise: Holafly’s cruise plan at $97.90, which adds Mexico, Honduras, Colombia, Panama and the USA
- 🗺️ Widest footprint: Saily at 29 destinations, useful if your route stays east and skips the DR
Three things to carry away. Airalo, Saily and Nomad do not cover the Dominican Republic, and all three list Dominica, which is a different country entirely. The same thirty days of unlimited data costs $78.37 or $161.50 depending on who sells it, which is the widest gap we have found for a comparable product anywhere. And these regional land plans do not work at sea, including the one named after cruises, which says so on its own page.
None of these providers is hiding anything. The region simply has more variation between plans than any other we have audited.
This article contains affiliate links. I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Every price and island list was read from each provider’s own Caribbean regional page in September 2026, and coverage was verified island by island from those published lists rather than inferred from the headline count. All prices in USD. GigSky’s unlimited figures reflect its published 5% discount where shown, with the list price given alongside.
I’ve personally tested Airalo and Nomad in Portugal and Holafly in Portugal, Turkey and Thailand, so no Caribbean speed or coverage claim here comes from my own experience; performance figures are attributed to the independent testing that produced them. Airalo, Saily and Nomad do not list the Dominican Republic in their Caribbean regional plans, though all three list Dominica, which is a separate country.
Holafly’s regular Caribbean plan does not include the Bahamas or Puerto Rico; its separate cruise plan does. Holafly states on its own cruise product page that the plan provides coverage only on land, does not guarantee coverage at sea, and is currently unavailable at Freeport, CocoCay and Ocean Cay in the Bahamas. GigSky’s published Caribbean list does not include Puerto Rico.
Regional plans, prices and island lists change without notice, so always open the specific plan’s country list and confirm at checkout.
