Best eSIM for Multi-Country Europe: Routes, Prices and Kosovo

A train from Paris to Zurich, a few days in Italy, then a bus through the Balkans: that is where the words “Europe eSIM” stop being enough. A plan can cover your first four stops and leave out the fifth. I would check the route before comparing the price per gigabyte.

For a multi-country Europe trip, Nomad Europe 35 is a useful starting point for Western and Central Europe; Airalo Eurolink adds several Western Balkan countries; Ubigi Europe Extended includes Kosovo. Each has a different country list, data allowance and expiry date. There is no single winner for every itinerary.

This guide compares those three regional options for Interrail trips, road trips and longer routes. Nomad lists 35 countries in its standard Europe plan, Airalo Eurolink lists 41, and the Ubigi Extended 10GB plan lists 56 destinations, including territories and places outside geographical Europe. Those totals describe the packages, not guaranteed signal everywhere inside them.

I have used Nomad in Portugal and Holafly in Portugal, Turkey and Thailand. That experience informs the setup advice here. The current country lists, prices and network names come from the providers; I have not field-tested every border, route or network in this comparison. Regional or Local Plans: Compare the Whole Route

A regional plan gives you a shared allowance across its included destinations. That can be convenient when you spend only a day or two in each country. A local package can still make sense if most of your trip is in one place, or if you need local calls. Buying ten local plans does not necessarily mean installing ten different apps or eSIM profiles.

These are alternatives with different coverage and allowances, not a like-for-like savings calculation. Add the cost of the local packages you would actually buy, then compare the same trip length and usable data. There is no reliable rule that a regional eSIM becomes cheaper after four or five countries.

Coverage Comparison: Check Every Stop, Including Transit

The table below refers to the named regional packages. A “No” means the destination is absent from that package’s published list; it does not mean the provider sells no other product for that destination.

A short stop still matters. If you want mobile data during a bus change in Serbia or an overnight stay in Kosovo, include it in your plan. Do not assume that coverage in Croatia, Greece or another nearby country also covers the rest of the Balkans.

Kosovo check: Ubigi Europe Extended lists IPKO Kosovo. Neither Nomad Europe 35 nor Airalo Eurolink includes Kosovo. Nomad also sells a separate Kosovo package, starting at €7.12 for 1GB/7 days. This comparison is about these specific regional plans, not an exclusive claim about the whole market. Checked 24 October 2026.

Nomad Europe: My Starting Point for the Standard Circuit

For a route such as Portugal, Spain, France, Switzerland, Italy and Germany, Nomad’s 35-country package is worth checking first. Its listed 20GB/30-day price is €24.02 on sale, and 50GB/30 days is €31.13. I have personally used Nomad in Portugal, where I found the plan management straightforward. Nomad Pass changed on 20 October 2026. The new app-only subscription uses a reusable eSIM, with a 1GB allowance to claim every 30 days and eligible add-ons discounted by 15%. It offers 30-, 90-, 180- and 365-day terms with renewal conditions. The old Europe-only €2.58/GB-per-month description is no longer a suitable current offer. Read Nomad’s current Pass explanation. Turkey needs the 36-country option. Nomad’s two Europe lists are not identical. Compared with Europe 35, Europe 36 adds Turkey, Northern Cyprus and the Canary Islands, while Gibraltar and San Marino are not listed. Current examples are €20.46 for 10GB/30 days and €40.03 for 20GB/30 days. Check the exact list and plan details on Nomad’s official Europe page. The selected 20GB Europe 35 plan allows hotspot and add-ons; the unlimited option allows hotspot but no add-ons. These data-only packages do not provide a local phone number.

How to Install Nomad eSIM on iPhone

iPhone Setup Before Departure

Install over a reliable Wi-Fi connection before you travel. The selected Nomad plan starts when it connects to a supported destination network, or automatically if its 60-day activation window expires. Buying early does not mean you can leave it unused indefinitely.

Select Nomad for mobile data and enable roaming on that travel line. Turn off data roaming on your home SIM and check automatic data switching. You can keep your home number for messages if needed, but its calls and other roaming services follow your home provider’s charges.

On Android, menu names differ between Samsung, Google Pixel and other devices. Follow the installation instructions for your exact phone and package, then check which SIM is selected for mobile data.

On many Samsung phones, start with Settings, Connections, SIM manager and Add eSIM. Scan the supplied QR code, select the travel eSIM for data and enable its roaming setting. Avoid deleting the profile as a first troubleshooting step.

Airalo Eurolink: Useful for Western Balkan Stops

Airalo Eurolink currently lists 41 countries. Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Georgia are included, which is useful when a route goes beyond Nomad Europe 35. Its 10GB/30-day package is €28.50. For longer travel, 50GB/90 days is €92 and 100GB/180 days is €170. A longer expiry date does not replenish the allowance every month. Airalo also sells a separate Kosovo eSIM; its exclusion from Eurolink should not be confused with absence from the whole store.

Eurolink does not include Kosovo. For a route through Kosovo, compare a separate local package with Ubigi Extended. On the selected Eurolink 10GB/30-day package, Airalo lists One Albania, BH Telecom in Bosnia, MTEL in Montenegro, Yettel in Serbia, A1 mk in North Macedonia and Cellfie in Georgia. Airalo also lists an EU + UK package with 28 countries. Treat it as a separate product and check its own list if your route stays inside that region. Eurolink’s unlimited package has 5GB of full-speed data per day, followed by 1Mbps; that is different from some Airalo country plans. Ubigi Europe Extended: One Package Including Kosovo

Ubigi Europe Extended is the practical choice here when Kosovo is part of the same route as the rest of the Balkans. Its 10GB/30-day plan costs €35 and lists 56 destinations, including Kosovo on IPKO, Albania on One Albania, and Serbia on Yettel. Check Extended, not just Europe. Ubigi’s standard Europe and Europe Extended packages have different coverage. The reviewed Extended plan allows hotspot, starts through SmartStart at the destination, and can be recharged in the app without remaining data or Wi-Fi. Its country list includes Kosovo. Nomad Balkans and a Separate Kosovo Plan

If you already prefer Nomad, there is another route: its Balkans package plus a separate Kosovo package when needed. Compare the combined cost first. The current Balkans package is a different product from Europe 35 and Europe 36.

The official Nomad Balkans plan now lists 11 countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia. Turkey and Kosovo are not on that list. Prices are €8.01 for 1GB/7 days, then €13.34 for 3GB, €22.24 for 5GB, €34.69 for 10GB and €48.92 for 20GB, each valid 30 days.

Nomad’s separate Kosovo plan lists IPKO: 1GB/7 days costs €7.12; 3GB/30 days €15.12; 5GB/30 days €19.57; and 10GB/30 days €31.13. It is a separate allowance, so data left in the Balkans package does not become Kosovo data.

Useful price check: Nomad Balkans 10GB/30 days plus Kosovo 1GB/7 days totals €41.81 before coupons. Ubigi Extended 10GB/30 days is €35. The first combination has 11GB split between two packages with different expiry dates; Ubigi has one shared 10GB pool. This is a route example, not an equal-data savings percentage.

Which Plan Fits Your Itinerary?

I would start with the stops below, then check the travel dates and data allowance. The recommendation changes when you add a destination outside a package, even if it is only a short detour.

Practical Checks Before a Multi-Country Trip

Write down every country, including transit stops

Include overnight stops, border towns and islands. The UK and Switzerland are on the reviewed lists, but “Europe” alone tells you nothing about Kosovo or Turkey. Match validity to the whole trip

For a three-week trip, a 30-day package can leave a useful margin. Check the activation rule as well as the printed duration. A Nomad plan’s 60-day activation window, Airalo’s reviewed 365-day window and Ubigi SmartStart are not interchangeable. Save the expiry information and leave enough data for the journey home.

Save offline maps, transport tickets and your accommodation details. Mobile signal can drop in mountains, tunnels or rural areas, regardless of the country count on the package. Check top-ups, calls and hotspot separately

The reviewed Nomad fixed package supports add-ons; its unlimited package does not. Airalo offers top-ups on eligible eSIMs, and Ubigi supports in-app recharge. These regional data plans do not replace a local number for ordinary calls or SMS. Airalo’s official hotspot guidance allows tethering when supported by the device and network; an APN may need to be entered. Compare the checkout total after the coupon

Nomad’s €24.02/20GB and €31.13/50GB prices were on sale when checked. The listed pre-sale amounts were €32.91 and €42.70. Use ANDRE15 for Nomad or Airalo and ANDREONDIGITAL for Ubigi, then confirm eligibility and the final total. I have kept the displayed plan prices separate from the coupon so a changing promotion does not look like a guaranteed saving.

FAQ: Multi-Country Europe eSIMs

Final Verdict: Buy for the Route You Will Actually Travel

For a standard Western or Central European circuit, I would check Nomad Europe 35 first, especially the €24.02/20GB sale. But a cheap package is poor value if it misses a stop. Once the trip includes Albania, Bosnia, Montenegro, North Macedonia or Serbia, Airalo Eurolink becomes a more useful comparison. If Kosovo is on the same route, Ubigi Extended earns its higher price through the coverage that this particular itinerary needs.

• Choose Nomad Europe 35 when every stop is listed and you want a fixed allowance. The 20GB and 50GB sale packages are useful options, but check the price again at checkout.
• Choose Airalo Eurolink for its listed Western Balkan stops or its longer 90- and 180-day fixed packages. Kosovo needs a separate solution, and unlimited has a 5GB daily full-speed allowance.
• Choose Ubigi Extended when Kosovo coverage or the wider destination list makes the package a better fit. Its annual offers refill monthly, and its unlimited offers reduce speed after a total full-speed allowance.
• Before paying, check your phone, route, validity, hotspot rules and coupon total. That short check matters more than buying the plan with the largest country count.
