How Much Data for Europe 2026? Calculator and Plan Traps

Europe travel data calculator: estimate daily mobile habits, trip length and a safety margin.
Updated 20 October 2026. Prices are in euros, before coupons, from the official regional catalogues checked for this update. The calculator uses disclosed planning assumptions, not a measured average for all travellers. Promotions, country lists and conditions can change.

How much data for Europe? Start here

Multiply your expected mobile GB per day by your trip length, then add a margin. At 0.7GB per day, two weeks means 9.8GB before a reserve, or 11.8GB with 20% added. At 1.5GB per day, the same trip means 21GB before a reserve, or 25.2GB with it. These are examples, not traveller averages. A 20GB package does not cover a 25.2GB target. Use the calculator to make the numbers fit your habits, then check the plan’s countries, validity and hotspot rules.

You arrive in Europe with a working eSIM, but the useful question comes a little later: will the allowance last until your flight home? A week of train tickets, messages and downloaded playlists is very different from a week of video calls over a laptop hotspot.

This guide helps you estimate the data first and choose the plan second. It keeps two separate problems in view: how much you will transfer, and whether a particular package can deliver it for your whole route. For the wider provider comparison, see our Best eSIM for Europe, cheapest Europe eSIM guide and unlimited Europe eSIM comparison.

Why I wrote this guide: I’m André, a Brazilian living in Belgium. I have used Nomad eSIM in Portugal and in Dessel, Belgium; Holafly in Portugal, Turkey and Thailand; and Airalo in Figueira da Foz. That experience informs the practical advice here. It is not a controlled test of every European network or a measurement of the app rates below. Current plan details come from official product pages. Saily and SimOptions are assessed from their published specifications. This article contains affiliate links, which may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. The choice depends on your needs, not a partnership ranking.

Count mobile use, multiply by days, add one-off uploads once, then add a margin. Check the package separately. Checked 20 October 2026.

The Three Traveller Types: Useful Starting Points, Not Averages

A label such as “light user” is only useful when you know what sits behind it. The three daily budgets below preserve a simple way to plan, but they are deliberately illustrative allowances. They are not the measured average consumption of three groups of travellers. The calculator’s editable activity presets use their own disclosed routines and can produce different totals.

Mostly offline

0.7GB/day

An example budget for travel apps and messages, with entertainment downloaded and most large transfers on Wi-Fi.

14 days: 9.8GB before reserve

More time on mobile

1.5GB/day

An example budget with more social browsing, music and calls. Actual settings and time spent matter.

14 days: 21GB before reserve

Video and working days

3GB/day

An example budget for heavier use. Long HD calls, uploads and backups can take you well beyond it.

14 days: 42GB before reserve
Why guides give different answers: one author may count hotel Wi-Fi and downloaded entertainment; another may assume everything uses cellular data. Video quality, uploads, app settings and the number of connected people change the result. The practical response is to expose the assumptions and check your own counter, rather than treat one publisher’s number as a universal rule.

Interactive Europe Travel Data Calculator

Use Activity estimates before travelling, or My measured data if you already know how much mobile data you use. Enter only time carried by the travel SIM. Activity mode separates the range before reserve from a planning target based on its midpoint. Measured mode projects your own daily use without inventing a range. Neither result is a guaranteed upper limit. If running short would interrupt work, consider the upper activity scenario as well and check that a top-up is available.

Calculator methodology and sources

This is a planning model, not a study of average travelers. All time inputs refer only to mobile use on this SIM. Each activity is counted once. There is no hidden daily data floor. Decimal units are used: 1 GB = 1,000 MB.

Activity mode: minutes / 60 x each hourly rate, summed across activities x trip days, plus any whole-trip uploads. The target is the midpoint of that range plus your reserve. The range is not a confidence interval or a guaranteed minimum or maximum. Measured mode: measured GB / measured days x trip days, then your reserve; no extra activity estimate is added.

Hourly assumptions used by this calculator
ActivityMB/hourWhat the number means
Maps5 to 30Editorial planning assumption; Google does not publish a universal rate.
Messaging and web30 to 100Editorial assumption without large attachments or video calls.
Social feeds100 to 800Editorial assumption for a changing mix of photos and short video. Heavy autoplay can exceed it.
Music43.2 / 72 / 144Audio payload converted from Spotify’s 96 / 160 / 320 kbit/s settings. Excludes lossless, video and other transfers.
Video: saver / automatic166.7 to 250Based on Netflix’s approximate mobile Save Data and Automatic modes. Other services may differ.
Video: SD / HD300 to 1,000 / 1,000 to 3,000Editorial scenarios informed by Netflix quality guidance. These are not platform-wide limits; maximum quality and 4K can use more.
Calls: standard / HD540 to 1,080 / 1,980 to 3,060Arithmetic scenarios from sustained Zoom desktop bandwidth: 1:1 high quality to 720p, or group 720p to 1080p. Upload and download are both included. Capacity guidance is not measured consumption; mobile and other apps differ.
Extra laptop browsing100 to 300Editorial assumption for additional browsing and documents, excluding calls, video and separately entered files.

Audio conversion: kbit/s x 0.45 = MB/hour. Call conversion: (upload Mbps + download Mbps) x 0.45 = GB/hour. Adaptive quality, caching, advertisements, retries, background sync and software changes affect real use. Pause large backups and updates, or add their expected file sizes explicitly.

The bundle ladder is 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 50 and 100 GB, shown only as common sizes to compare. Availability, prices, validity and plan terms are independent of the estimate. No provider is selected by the calculator.

How Much Data for a 7, 14 or 30-Day Europe Trip?

The arithmetic should be visible. This table applies a 20% reserve once to the three example daily budgets above. It includes no extra one-off uploads. Add those before applying the reserve if they are part of your trip.

7 days: small allowances can work, but count video

Ten gigabytes spread over seven days is about 1.43GB per day without a reserve. If you keep 20% headroom using this guide’s formula, your underlying daily budget needs to be about 1.19GB or less. A seven-day package also needs to cover the actual hours between activation and your last use, not just seven dates on the calendar.

14 days: make sure the package lasts long enough

A 10GB plan with seven-day validity is not a two-week solution just because you use only 5GB in the first week. For a projected 11.8GB requirement, compare a 15GB or 20GB package with sufficient validity. If your estimate is 25.2GB, a 20GB package needs a deliberate reduction in use or additional data.

30 days: compare a data pool with a daily allowance

A 50GB fixed plan lets you concentrate consumption on a few busy days, provided it remains within its terms. An unlimited product offering 5GB at high speed per day may slow down after a single large upload, even when your monthly total is modest. At the other end, a fixed 50GB plan will not cover a 54GB target without an adjustment.

How Much Data Does Each App Actually Use?

There is no reliable single rate for every map, social feed or video call. The table distinguishes an official service setting from a calculation based on published bandwidth. Generic activity rates used by the calculator are labelled as editorial assumptions in its methodology.

Audio quality, streaming quality and video-call traffic affect mobile data consumption.
Quality settings change the workload. Official references and calculator assumptions are distinguished in the text. Checked 20 October 2026.

Why call quality matters more than an app league table

A low-resolution one-to-one call and an HD group meeting are different workloads. Comparing one app’s lightest setting with another’s high-resolution setting does not show which app is more efficient. For a bidirectional call, calculate both upload and download. At a sustained combined 2.4Mbps, one hour transfers about 1.08GB: 2.4 × 3,600 ÷ 8 ÷ 1,000.

Use your own cellular counter when you can

  1. Choose the SIM that will carry your travel data and note its counter at the start of a known period.
  2. Use the phone normally for a representative day or several days. Include a working day if you will work abroad.
  3. Divide the increase in GB by the number of days, then multiply by the trip length.
  4. Add a reserve once. Adjust for known changes, such as hotel Wi-Fi or a planned upload, without counting the same activity twice.

For example, 6GB used over 10 days projects to 8.4GB over 14 days, or 10.08GB with a 20% reserve. A 10GB package is slightly below that target. On iPhone, “Current Period” needs a known reset date; do not assume it is the current month. Android menus differ by device. Your carrier’s allowance counter may also differ from the phone. See Apple’s cellular-data guide and Google’s data-usage guide.

Remote Work: Hotspot Is a Connection, Not a Second Activity

If a laptop uses the phone’s connection for a 45-minute meeting, enter that meeting once under video calls. Add laptop browsing separately, and enter known large file transfers as extra GB. A second person streaming another video does add another stream; simply connecting a laptop does not double all usage.

The transfers you do not see still count. Photo backups, cloud sync, software downloads and open browser tabs may use the connection while you work. Pause large transfers on mobile data and resume backups and security updates on suitable Wi-Fi. Check your operating system’s metered-connection or low-data settings instead of leaving important updates disabled indefinitely.
Count laptop hotspot calls once and pause large transfers while on mobile data.
Hotspot carries activities already counted. Add only extra traffic and known transfers. Checked 20 October 2026.

A two-hour Zoom desktop group 720p meeting at its published reference rates is a 3.96GB scenario before other work. That could exceed a 1GB daily hotspot allowance, or leave little room in a shared 5GB high-speed daily allowance. This is why the calculator cannot turn a monthly total alone into a reliable unlimited-plan recommendation.

The Plan Traps: Data, Days and Countries Are Separate Checks

Check countries, total data, validity and hotspot or daily speed limits before buying an eSIM.
Enough GB is only one part of the decision. Verify the exact package for every stop. Checked 20 October 2026.
1. A region name is not an itinerary. Airalo EU + UK covers 28 countries; its Europe product covers 41. Nomad eSIM’s 35 and 36-destination products have different lists, rather than one simply containing the other. The wider or more expensive product can be the right purchase when it covers a stop the cheaper one does not.
2. “Unlimited” does not describe hotspot or speed. Check the high-speed allowance, what happens after it, and whether tethered traffic has a separate limit. The daily threshold is not a weekly pool you can save for a long upload on Friday.
3. Activation deadlines are not package validity. Having 60, 180 or 365 days to start an unused plan does not mean its included data lasts that long after activation. An airport connection during a stopover can start the clock if that network is covered.
Check your existing plan first. If your home operator already includes the trip, a separate eSIM may be unnecessary. Review the exact roaming countries, data allowance and fair-use terms with that operator. A travel package labelled “Europe” is a commercial country list, not a definition of EU roaming rights.

Best Europe eSIM Plans by Data Need: October 2026 Prices

The five providers below were already in this guide. We compare their regional variants because that is where otherwise sensible estimates can go wrong. Prices are native EUR listings before coupons, checked on 20 October 2026. They are snapshots, not prices built into the calculator. Sale offers and eligibility may change before checkout.

Fixed-data Europe plans: match the allowance and validity

These are the providers’ native euro prices checked on October 20, 2026, before coupons. Each price includes its validity: d = days. Multiple prices in one cell are separate durations. Start with the amount of data you calculated, then check that the plan covers your whole trip and every destination. A lower price per GB can still mean a higher total bill.

The Nomad eSIM Europe 35 prices for 20 GB and 50 GB are the displayed sale prices. Its separate recurring Pass is excluded. Holafly’s Europe travel offer is unlimited only, shown below. Airalo Europe also lists 100 GB for 180 days at €170.00, with a warning about restrictions on usage over 91 days in Turkey. Longer validity is a separate benefit, so do not compare a 90-day offer with a 30-day offer as though they cover the same trip.

Coverage changes with the product: Nomad eSIM Europe 36 includes Turkey, while Europe 35 does not. Airalo EU+UK excludes Switzerland, Norway and Turkey; Airalo Europe includes them. The SimOptions fixed-data and unlimited products also have different destination lists. Check the exact list before choosing by price.

Unlimited Europe plans: compare the daily limits

Unlimited describes continued access, not necessarily unlimited full-speed data. A daily high-speed allowance cannot be saved for a heavier day. For laptop work, compare the hotspot rule as well as the phone allowance.

Nomad eSIM currently lists only these unlimited Europe durations: €16.90 / 5d, €30.24 / 10d. Its 10-day offer does not cover a 14-day trip by itself. “Not listed” means that duration was absent from the checked offer, not that a shorter package lasts longer.

Holafly’s carrier fair-use policy can temporarily reduce speed for up to one day; the product page does not publish a numeric high-speed threshold or reduced speed. Its FAQ also excludes domestic use in your home country, including the entire EU for EU-based residents. Airalo and Saily hotspot use draws from the same daily allowance as phone use. Saily’s unlimited terms restrict tethering to occasional personal use and prohibit continuous streaming intended to replace fixed-line internet. Changing time zones does not grant an extra daily allowance. SimOptions’ missing numeric fair-use details should not be read as a promise of unlimited full-speed data or tethering.

Compare the total eSIM bill as well as price per gigabyte.
A large package can have a lower price per included GB and still cost more than your trip needs. Checked 20 October 2026.

A lower price per GB can still mean a higher bill

The Bouygues-branded channel’s €45.90 for 120GB works out at about €0.38 per included GB. But a traveller who needs 15GB does not save money simply by buying the largest allowance. Compare the total amount you must pay for a package that fits the itinerary and validity. Include any required top-up, and do not apply a coupon to a sale price unless checkout accepts that combination.

Nomad eSIM Europe: Match a Fixed Allowance to Your Estimate

If your calculation comes to about 8GB for a two-week trip, 10GB with 30-day validity gives you room above that estimate. Nomad eSIM’s Europe 35 plan costs €20.46 for that allowance. Its current 20GB sale is €24.02, so another €3.56 buys extra margin. The 50GB/30-day sale costs €31.13 and becomes more relevant when your estimate includes substantial video or laptop use. Buying more data only helps if you can use it before expiry.

Check the exact regional plan. Europe 35 includes the UK, Switzerland, Norway and Iceland. Europe 36 adds Turkey, Northern Cyprus and the Canary Islands, while dropping Gibraltar and San Marino. Its 20GB/30-day price is €40.03. The more expensive option can therefore be the appropriate one for your route. Neither covers the non-EU Western Balkans.

Fixed plans allow hotspot sharing from the same data pool. Both inspected 10GB variants offer add-ons, but an add-on does not extend the original package’s validity or preserve its leftover data. The official add-on guidance explains the separate validity and lack of rollover. Validity starts on a supported network, or automatically after 60 days. The separate unlimited options last five or ten days and provide 2GB daily at high speed, then 1Mbps.

Discount: try ANDRE15 for 15% off eligible purchases. Eligibility depends on the selected offer. Do not assume the code combines with a sale price or applies to an unlimited plan; confirm acceptance before paying.

Airalo Europe: Choose the Region Before the Data Package

Airalo’s EU + UK product covers 28 countries. For a calculation near 8GB over two weeks, its 10GB/15-day package costs €20.50; extending validity to 30 days costs €22.50. A seven-day traveller estimating less than 5GB can instead consider 5GB/7 days at €11.50. Longer validity and a larger allowance solve different problems.

The broader Europe product covers 41 destinations, including Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Turkey and several non-EU Balkan countries. Its 10GB/15-day package is €26.00. That difference buys coverage your itinerary may need, so calling it the “wrong” plan would be misleading. Kosovo and Moldova appear in neither regional list.

For unlimited data, EU + UK costs €22.00 for seven days with 3GB per 24 hours, then 1Mbps. Europe costs €25.00 with 5GB per 24 hours, then 1Mbps. Hotspot use shares that daily allowance. Unused high-speed data does not become a larger pool for tomorrow.

The button opens the broader Europe page; select EU + UK separately if that is the region you need. Both products support top-ups and start their validity on first covered-network use. The 365-day activation deadline is the time allowed to begin, not a year of included data. Try ANDRE15 for 15% off eligible purchases and check the final discount before payment.

Holafly Europe: Plan for Phone Use and a Separate Hotspot Limit

Holafly lets you buy unlimited phone data by trip length: €25.50 for seven days, €45.50 for 14 days or €70.90 for 30 days. It is worth considering when your estimate is high or uncertain and most usage stays on your phone. It includes no traditional calls, SMS or local number.

The important distinction is 1GB of hotspot sharing per day. If the calculator includes several gigabytes of daily laptop use, that sharing allowance will not match the estimate. Holafly also allows temporary carrier speed reductions under fair use. Its inspected Europe page does not publish a numeric high-speed threshold or a reduced speed, so there is no basis for promising unrestricted performance.

The Europe country list contains 33 destinations, including the UK, Switzerland, Iceland and Andorra, but not Turkey. Each purchased day runs for 24 hours from the first supported-network connection.

If you live in the EU: Holafly’s current FAQ describes the product as travel-abroad connectivity and treats the entire EU as domestic use for EU-based residents. Confirm eligibility with Holafly before relying on this plan for travel within the EU.

The affiliate button opens Holafly’s store, where you can select Europe and the display language. Code ANDREONDIGITAL offers 5% off eligible purchases; check its acceptance and final price before paying.

Saily Europe: Compare Your Busiest Day with the Daily Allowance

Saily’s Europe unlimited plan costs €23.99 for seven days, €44.49 for 15 days or €63.99 for 30 days. It provides 5GB of high-speed data per day, then up to 1Mbps, with the allowance resetting at local midnight. The current selector does not list a 14-day unlimited option. A trip averaging 3GB daily could still include one day above 5GB that triggers slower service.

Hotspot uses the same allowance as your phone. Saily’s unlimited-plan terms prohibit excessive tethering beyond occasional personal use and continuous streaming intended to replace fixed-line internet. This is a material limit when planning sustained laptop use. Pause large backups and updates on mobile data and resume them on trusted Wi-Fi.

For lighter use, the fixed-data options include 3GB/30 days at €10.99 and 5GB/30 days at €17.49. Saily also offers shorter validity choices on selected fixed tiers; compare the duration shown on the selected card. Its 50GB package costs €85.49 and lasts 90 days, so compare it with other long-validity offers rather than treating it as a standard monthly plan.

The 35-destination region includes Turkey, Switzerland and the UK, but not Andorra. Activation occurs in the first included country, or automatically after 180 days if unused. These prices cover data; phone-number, minutes and SMS products are separate. Try ANDREONDIGITAL for 10% off eligible purchases and verify the discount at checkout.

SimOptions and Bouygues: Compare the Exact Product and Sales Channel

SimOptions sells its own data packages alongside carrier products. Its main Europe catalogue currently lists 20GB/15 days at €11.90 and 50GB/30 days at €29.50 under its own label. These data-only, 4G/LTE offers cover 34 destinations, including the UK, Switzerland and Turkey, but not Iceland. They can suit an estimate within the allowance when every stop is covered.

For much heavier use, the Bouygues-branded channel advertises 120GB/30 days for €45.90. Its product description lists 47 destinations and 4G/LTE. The main SimOptions marketplace separately lists a 120GB/30-day Bouygues offer at €52.50, with 46 destinations and 5G support. Keep each channel’s price, coverage and specifications together when comparing.

The branded €45.90 offer works out at about €0.38 per included GB, but that calculation assumes the full 120GB allowance. If you need only 15GB, the larger purchase can still cost more overall. Bouygues includes a French number and calls/SMS within covered Europe, and permits tethering; check calling exclusions and each destination before buying. The inspected main-store 120GB package has no top-up option.

The button below opens the Bouygues-branded shop. Select the package and confirm its conditions there. No coupon is claimed for this offer.

How Much Data Does Google Maps Use in Europe?

Google’s offline help does not publish a universal MB-per-hour navigation figure. Cached areas, route searches, photos, satellite view and map downloads all affect consumption. Our calculator therefore treats map usage as a planning assumption, not a Google benchmark.

You can download areas for offline navigation using Google Maps before the trip. Keep the whole route covered and update the downloads when needed. The important city-trip limitation is that offline Google Maps does not provide walking, public-transport or cycling directions; offline driving also loses live traffic and alternative routes. Apple Maps supports additional offline directions in supported areas, with availability depending on the place and device.

The retained video is a navigation overview. For planning numbers and current offline limitations, use the documented guidance above rather than treating a video example as a guaranteed hourly rate.

Install Before You Fly, Check What Starts the Clock

Confirm that your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked, install over a reliable connection following the provider’s instructions, and check what activates the allowance. Select the travel SIM for mobile data when needed. Keep the home line’s roaming settings under control if you retain it for calls or SMS. Traditional SMS does not consume the travel data pool, but your home operator may charge for its own services. Full instructions: how to use an eSIM in Europe.

8 Tips to Save Data in Europe

  1. Download maps on Wi-Fi. Save the areas you need and understand which route types remain available offline.
  2. Download entertainment before leaving. A saved playlist or film avoids streaming that same content through the travel SIM.
  3. Choose cellular streaming quality deliberately. Review the app’s mobile-data setting; “Auto” is not a promise of a small allowance.
  4. Reduce video-call quality when appropriate. Turning off your camera or choosing a lower-resolution mode can change the workload without changing apps.
  5. Check cloud backups before tethering. Schedule large uploads and software downloads for Wi-Fi, then resume them rather than forgetting them.
  6. Review background cellular access. Restrict unnecessary transfers while keeping travel essentials working. Check Wi-Fi Assist or Connectivity Assist settings if weak Wi-Fi unexpectedly uses mobile data.
  7. Recalculate after the first two days. Compare the carrier’s remaining allowance with your actual habits and the days left.
  8. Check the route before paying. A smaller regional package can be enough, but saving money on an uncovered stop is not useful.

FAQ: How Much Data for Europe 2026?

How much data do I need for 2 weeks in Europe?

Multiply your expected daily mobile use by 14. A 0.7GB daily budget gives 9.8GB before reserve or 11.8GB with 20% added. A 1.5GB budget gives 21GB before reserve or 25.2GB with it. These are illustrative budgets, not measured traveller averages. Use your cellular counter or the calculator to estimate your own routine. Updated October 2026.

Is 10GB enough for a week in Europe?

It can be, if your use fits the allowance. Ten gigabytes over seven days averages about 1.43GB per day before any reserve. With a 20% reserve using our formula, the underlying daily estimate must be about 1.19GB or less. Check package validity as well as data, and count streaming, calls and hotspot traffic. Updated October 2026.

How much data does Google Maps use in Europe?

There is no universal Google-published hourly rate established in this guide. Downloads, uncached areas, images and satellite view change consumption. Offline Google Maps can reduce mobile use, but offline walking, cycling and public-transport directions are unavailable. Our maps rate is a disclosed planning assumption; your own counter is a better guide to your routine. Updated October 2026.

Why does every guide give a different answer for how much data I need?

Guides assume different amounts of Wi-Fi, streaming quality, video calls, uploads and background traffic. Some numbers are daily budgets rather than measurements. Compare the assumptions, use a known cellular counter period where possible and add a visible reserve once. Updated October 2026.

Should I choose unlimited or fixed data for Europe?

A fixed pool can suit a predictable total or uneven daily usage. An unlimited product can suit regular daily use, but first check the high-speed threshold, reset time, reduced speed and hotspot policy. There is no universal daily-GB point at which unlimited becomes better value; compare current offers for the exact duration and route. Updated October 2026.

Do Europe unlimited eSIM plans have a daily cap?

The terms depend on the exact package. Airalo EU + UK lists 3GB per 24 hours before 1Mbps, while Airalo Europe lists 5GB. Nomad eSIM Europe unlimited lists 2GB daily before 1Mbps. Saily lists 5GB daily before up to 1Mbps, with its terms resetting at local midnight and restricting excessive tethering. Holafly permits fair-use speed reductions without a numeric high-speed threshold on the inspected Europe page, and separately limits hotspot to 1GB daily. Updated October 2026.

How much data does a laptop hotspot use in Europe?

Hotspot has no single hourly rate. Count the laptop activities: browsing, calls, streaming, uploads and background downloads. Count a video call once, even if it runs through your phone. As a planning scenario, two hours at Zoom desktop group 720p reference bandwidth equals about 3.96GB before other traffic. Actual use adapts to network and call conditions. Updated October 2026.

What is the cheapest Europe eSIM per GB in 2026?

Within the products documented here, the Bouygues-branded channel lists 120GB for €45.90, approximately €0.38 per included GB. The main SimOptions marketplace separately lists 120GB for €52.50 with different advertised specifications. Neither figure proves the cheapest offer across the whole market. A smaller package can cost less in total when you need fewer gigabytes. Updated October 2026.

How do I calculate data from my phone usage?

Divide the cellular data used during a known period by the number of days, then multiply by your trip length. Six gigabytes over ten days projects to 8.4GB over fourteen days. Adding a 20% reserve once gives 10.08GB. Use the relevant SIM counter and do not subtract Wi-Fi from an already-cellular total a second time. Updated October 2026.

Is 20GB enough for 30 days in Europe?

Twenty gigabytes spread over thirty days is about 0.67GB per day without a reserve. With a 20% reserve, your underlying estimate would need to be about 0.56GB per day or lower. It can work with limited mobile use and substantial Wi-Fi, but it is not a safe universal recommendation for daily video or remote work. Updated October 2026.

Does the calculator include hotel Wi-Fi and send my answers anywhere?

Enter only use carried by the travel SIM; hotel Wi-Fi and content downloaded before the trip are excluded. The calculator runs locally in the page and does not send or store your entries. This describes the calculator component, not every analytics or embedded service on the website. Updated October 2026.

Can I use the same Europe package in the UK, Switzerland and Turkey?

Only if all three are in that exact package's country list. Airalo EU + UK does not include Switzerland or Turkey. Its broader Europe product does. Nomad eSIM Europe 35 includes the UK and Switzerland but not Turkey; Europe 36 includes Turkey. Recheck the selected product before paying. Updated October 2026.

Final Europe data plan checklist: estimate mobile use, add a margin and match data, days and route.
Estimate first, match the plan second, then check real consumption after arrival. Checked 20 October 2026.

Final Answer: Buy for Your Trip, Not for an Average Traveller

For a two-week Europe trip, 10GB, 20GB and 50GB can all be sensible choices for different routines. None is an honest universal answer. Start with your own mobile counter if you have it. Otherwise, enter the activities you expect to use away from Wi-Fi, review the range and choose an explicit reserve.

My order of decisions is straightforward: enough data, enough days, every country, then the total price and restrictions. A low price per GB is useful only after those conditions fit. A larger fixed allowance can work well for uneven usage, while an unlimited product may be convenient for regular daily use if its speed and hotspot terms match the busy days.

  • For a modest fixed-data estimate: compare SimOptions’ own-label packages, Airalo EU + UK and Nomad eSIM against the exact route and duration. The cheapest listed tier is not always valid for the whole trip.
  • For a larger shared pool: Nomad eSIM’s 50GB, Airalo’s regional 50GB options and the carrier packages sold through SimOptions deserve a look. Compare the total cost and what happens when the pool ends.
  • For regular high daily use: compare Saily and Airalo’s published high-speed thresholds. Check the busiest day, not just a daily average.
  • For phone-focused unlimited use: Holafly remains a candidate, with its separate 1GB/day hotspot limit, fair-use policy and residence eligibility checked first.

Keep a copy of the package conditions, check your consumption after arrival and reassess before the balance gets low. That is more useful than buying extra data solely because a guide calls everyone a heavy user.
