This Nomad eSIM review starts with a choice that has become more important since the new Nomad Pass launched: are you buying data for one trip, keeping an allowance for several trips, or paying to reuse the same eSIM? Those are three different purchases. I would start with a prepaid package for a single holiday, then compare Global-EX or Pass if there is a clear reason to keep service available longer.
I have used Nomad eSIM in Portugal and in Dessel, Belgium, where I live. That gives me a personal basis for discussing the service. The prices, networks and country lists below come from current official product pages, rather than a claim that I have tested every destination.

After deciding how you will use the plan, I would check Europe 35 versus Europe 36 and Global versus Global-EX. A larger country count does not guarantee that your particular stop is included. You will also find calls and SMS on selected products, different unlimited-data rules, student offers, membership rewards and exceptions to standard installation advice.

Is Nomad eSIM worth it? Checked 1 November 2026
For a typical multi-country Europe trip: start by checking Europe 35. Its 10 GB / 30-day plan is €20.60; the current 20 GB sale is €24.18. Both the UK and Switzerland are included.
For travel spread across several months: compare Global-EX. Its 10 GB / 180-day plan costs $39, but its 98-destination list differs from Global’s 123-destination list.
For frequent travel with one installed profile: consider the new Nomad Pass, from $5 per 30-day term for Single Destination or $7 for Regional. Its included 1 GB is backup data; add-on costs and automatic renewal belong in the comparison.
For heavy daily use or a working phone number: do not assume the whole brand follows one rule. Europe Unlimited slows after 2 GB per day; the UK has distinct voice/SMS and full-speed unlimited products.

This is how I would narrow the choice, based on the current product terms. My personal Nomad use was in Portugal and Belgium; I have not tested every package or the new Pass.

My Nomad eSIM experience in Portugal and Belgium
I am Brazilian, previously lived in Portugal and now live in Dessel, Belgium. I have used Nomad eSIM in both countries. Our September Belgium use involved a 3 GB plan for Maps, hotspot and everyday use while out and about. At that stage I had not noticed problems, but that was an observation from normal use, not a measured speed test.
The experience helps me discuss installation and everyday use. It does not establish how a different package will perform in Japan, the USA or a remote area. For those recommendations I check the current network and product terms.
Trustpilot and App Store ratings
On 1 November 2026, the public Trustpilot profile showed 4.3/5 from 47,663 reviews. The US Apple App Store showed 4.8/5 from a rounded 17K ratings. Those are platform snapshots and can change. They cover different users and products, so I would not treat either score as proof of coverage on your particular route.
What Is an eSIM and How Does It Work?
An eSIM is a digital mobile profile installed without a physical SIM card. On a compatible unlocked dual-SIM phone, you can keep your usual number and select Nomad eSIM for travel data. Your home operator’s charges still apply to any calls, SMS or roaming on your home line.

After installation, select the travel profile for mobile data and follow its roaming instructions. Turn off automatic mobile-data switching if it could send usage back to your home SIM. Read the package instructions before installation: selected Thai tourist products begin validity at installation and should be installed only after arrival.

For example, a route including the UAE can rule out Global-EX even if its longer validity looks attractive. A route including Qatar can produce the opposite result. Also check territories explicitly instead of assuming they are covered because the mainland country is listed.
Nomad eSIM Europe Pricing: Europe 35 vs Europe 36
The two Europe products remain a useful reason to look closely at Nomad eSIM. Both include the UK and Switzerland. Europe 36 adds Turkey, the Canary Islands and Northern Cyprus, but leaves out Gibraltar and San Marino, which Europe 35 includes. It is a different route list, not an automatic upgrade.

The new Nomad Pass: one reusable eSIM for repeat trips
Nomad changed its subscription on 20 October 2026. The current Nomad Pass is available in the app as a Single Destination Pass or a Regional Pass. It includes 1 GB to claim every 30 days, a reusable profile and 15% off eligible data add-ons. This replaces the Europe-only offer previously covered in this review.

These are upfront totals in USD for the selected period, not monthly charges. The subscription renews automatically until canceled. The two Pass types determine whether the included 1 GB is assigned to a supported single destination or region. Either type can buy supported country and regional add-ons. Check the app’s available destinations before subscribing; this is not an unlimited or universal worldwide plan.
The included allowance is backup data: purchased add-ons are used first. You claim the next 1 GB under Manage every 30 days, and unclaimed data does not roll into the next cycle. The new Pass profile can remain reusable for up to three years after its last active data plan.
I would compare Pass with a prepaid package when planning several trips, especially if keeping one installed profile matters to you. For a single holiday, start with the total data you need and the full subscription cost. The small included allowance may be useful, but it does not replace a trip-sized data plan.
Existing Europe Pass subscribers should check which version they own. Nomad says the old subscription cannot be migrated to the new Pass, although both can coexist on the same account. The older cancellation and top-up rules should not be assumed to apply to the new version. Review the terms shown for your subscription before paying or canceling. I have not personally tested the new Pass.

USA plans: compare local with regional
A USA-only trip does not necessarily need a North America package. The current local 10 GB / 30-day USA plan costs $13, compared with $32 for North America 10 GB / 30 days. The local plan lists AT&T and Verizon, with 5G/LTE advertised for the package. Those are advertised network options for that package, not a promise that either network is available at every location.

Networks, 5G and Phone Numbers: Check the Exact Package
Nomad eSIM uses partner networks. A country page can contain several products with different network options, so I would check the details of the actual allowance being purchased, not just the brand or country heading.

Selected UK packages include calls and SMS
Most Nomad eSIM packages are data-only. However, the current UK Calls, Data & Text range provides a UK number and local calls/SMS on Vodafone 5G. These are distinct from ordinary data-only packages.

The latest phone-number help page also identifies Maldives calling plans and selected Thai exceptions. For ordinary data-only profiles, a number displayed in phone settings can be an identifier rather than a callable number. Do not assume it can receive bank verification messages. An existing WhatsApp account can normally use the data connection while keeping its registered number.

Nomad Points and Membership Rewards
Nomad Points, Nomad Membership and Nomad Pass serve different purposes. Points are account credit; Membership determines eligible loyalty benefits; Pass is a paid, recurring data subscription with a reusable eSIM. They should not be combined into one “cashback” promise.
How the current rewards work
Redemption: 100 Nomad Points are worth $1 toward eligible purchases.
Membership: the published tier rates are Traveler 5%, Explorer 7%, Adventurer 9%, Voyager 12% and Elite 15%, subject to eligible spend and earning increments.
Expiry: earned points expire after 180 days under the membership terms. Refund points are treated separately.
Check your account: purchase eligibility, spend increments, tier benefits and exclusions determine the actual reward.
The older help article describes 25 points for each $5 purchase increment, while the newer Membership program introduces tier-dependent earning. At Explorer, the detailed guide describes 35 points per $5. Rounding and eligible spend matter, so neither figure means cash returned to your card on every purchase.

Nomad Membership uses a 365-day cycle. Its current terms require the qualifying spend within the final 30 days to retain a tier for the next cycle. Guest purchases do not count, and refunds can lower the tier. Nomad Pass upgrades subscribers to Explorer; after cancellation, status is reassessed using actual eligible spend.
ANDRE15, referrals and the free trial

Nomad eSIM for Business
The business service is separate from a consumer plan bought for your own holiday. It offers centralized management for teams, with a portal and API options, usage visibility and allocation controls. Request the appropriate business quote rather than assuming the consumer coupon or table prices apply to a company account.

Yes, there is a linked student offer. The Student Beans portal linked from Nomad eSIM’s official site advertises 25% off eligible eSIM plans. Student verification and the portal’s terms apply.
The displayed exclusions include add-ons, business plans, sale plans, specified Thailand 50 GB/unlimited products and plans below $5. Verify the current offer in the portal before relying on it. It is a separate discount route from ANDRE15 and Nomad Pass, not an extra reduction to automatically stack on top.

Nomad eSIM Refund Policy: What to Check Before Buying
A request window is not an unconditional money-back guarantee. The formal policy requires eligible refund requests within 30 days of purchase. Installation, activation, usage, discounts and the exact product affect the outcome.

Read the formal refund policy and product exclusions before paying. Their lists of Thai exceptions differ, so the terms attached to your selected purchase are particularly important.
Add-ons, activation and keeping your eSIM
- Activation: many plans start on first connection to a supported network, with a typical 60-day activation window. Some need manual activation; certain profiles expire instead of automatically starting. Follow your confirmation email.
- No pause: switching the line off does not stop an activated plan’s validity clock.
- Add-ons: where supported, buy before the existing allowance is exhausted or the plan expires. An add-on uses the installed profile and normally starts after the current package ends; unused base data does not roll over.
- New purchases: a new standalone plan normally requires a new profile. It is not necessarily a refill of the previous one. The new Nomad Pass is a separate product designed for supported add-ons across destinations on one profile.
- Reinstallation: do not delete or move a profile until support confirms what that exact product allows.
- Data usage: check Manage eSIM, allowing for reporting delay. Your phone’s usage counter can differ.

How to Install and Activate Nomad eSIM on iPhone
First confirm that your exact iPhone model supports eSIM and is carrier unlocked. In Settings, General, About, “No SIM restrictions” under Carrier Lock indicates an unlocked device. Have a stable internet connection and your installation instructions ready.
Step-by-Step Nomad eSIM Setup for iPhone
- Read the purchased package’s activation rule before installing. Selected Thailand tourist products should be installed only after arrival.
- Use direct app installation when offered, or scan the QR code or enter the manual details.
- Label the profile clearly and select it for mobile data when you are ready to use the plan.
- Enable data roaming on that profile if instructed, and check which line your phone uses for calls and messages.
- Disable unwanted roaming or automatic data switching on your home line to avoid home-carrier charges.
How to Install and Activate Nomad eSIM on Android
Samsung, Google Pixel and other Android menus vary by model and software version. Confirm eSIM support and unlock status for the exact device, then use the app, QR code or manual instructions supplied for your purchase.

At the destination, select the Nomad eSIM profile as your data line and follow its roaming and APN instructions. Avoid deleting the profile during troubleshooting: some products cannot be downloaded again.
If the connection does not start
- Confirm the plan is valid, activated when required and covers the destination.
- Check that the installed profile is enabled and selected for mobile data.
- Check roaming and the exact APN in the plan instructions.
- Restart the phone or toggle airplane mode, then try a supported carrier manually if automatic selection fails.
- Contact in-app or website chat with the plan details, location and error message. Share account identifiers privately with support, not in public comments.

Nomad eSIM Review: Is Unlimited Actually Unlimited?
It depends on the exact product. Several regional unlimited plans keep data running after a daily high-speed allowance, but at a reduced speed. The current UK Full-Speed Unlimited product has a different advertised policy. Applying one blanket speed cap to the whole brand would be inaccurate.

Add-on availability differs even within the unlimited range. The checked Europe 35 Unlimited product supports add-ons; the APAC 14 and North America unlimited examples do not. The separate UK Full-Speed Unlimited plan also lists no add-ons. These checked unlimited products are nonrefundable, so confirm the allowance and trip dates before paying. Hotspot is supported, but it uses the selected package’s data and speed rules. For laptop work, calculate the data you expect to use and consider what happens after the daily allowance. A fixed 20 GB package can be more flexible for a few heavy workdays than a daily high-speed allowance, provided the total is enough for your trip.

I would use a Nomad prepaid plan as my starting point for a single trip, and choose its longer-term products only when they solve a real travel need. My use in Portugal and Belgium was straightforward for the everyday tasks described above. What makes the wider catalog worth a close look is the choice between a fixed trip allowance, Global-EX for travel spread over months, and the new Pass for a reusable profile. Each has a different cost and commitment.
For a Europe trip limited to destinations on Europe 35, I would compare the €20.60 10 GB package with the current €24.18 20 GB sale. The extra €3.58 buys more room for navigation, sharing and heavier days, if you will actually use it. For Turkey, the Canary Islands or Northern Cyprus, I would check Europe 36 first and then compare the whole route again.
For several trips over a longer period, Global-EX deserves attention: $39 for 10 GB over 180 days is a different proposition from Global’s $62 for 10 GB over 30 days. The decisive question is whether every stop is covered. A lower cost per GB cannot compensate for a missing destination.
The new Pass is the option I would examine for repeated travel, but I would not subscribe just to get a discount. A Regional Pass costs $68 upfront for 365 days, before extra data, while Global-EX 20 GB costs $59 for 365 days on a different destination list. Those prices buy different things: recurring included allowances and a reusable subscription on one side, one fixed allowance on the other. The useful comparison is your itinerary and expected total data bill, including renewal. I have not tested the new Pass myself.
I would be more cautious if the trip depends on sustained laptop work, a guaranteed native phone number, last-minute changes or an easy refund. Check those requirements at product level before committing. The selected UK calling and full-speed products are useful exceptions. The new Pass also changes how reuse works, but neither should be treated as the rule for every ordinary prepaid plan.
My buying order: confirm every destination, choose prepaid or subscription, set the data and validity, read activation, renewal and refund terms, then apply the eligible discount. A larger country count or headline discount matters only if the package fits your trip.
